Hey none of you are actually in there working right? Like, they shut you down when it got near 90?

Or did the sensor break and it's registering the wrong temp?

Because that is called Unsafe Working Conditions right there
soyboysucc [OP] 150 points 1y ago
Our DM was here and didn’t even consider closing shop lmao
drowninginristretto 59 points 1y ago
Ours has been 97° for a week and though she promised that we would close when she got to our district (this is a somewhat reoccurring issue) she never considered it. In fact she said, I’m working in your store right now and I’m fine
lavendersigil 38 points 1y ago
It sounds like she came from hell anyway so I can't imagine it makes much of a difference to her
Ibebarrett 10 points 1y ago
Lololol I was in a store that was hitting 96 for a week straight because we didn’t have air systems and were in a massive glass bubble in 110+ outdoor temps….we took turns hanging out in the walk-in freezer so we didn’t pass out
mama_bibi 3 points 1y ago
Wait...you have a walk in freezer?!?!
BRB I gotta pick up the pieces of my jaw off the floor
Ibebarrett 1 points 1y ago
Lol it’s about a 5 minute walk from the store and we share it with two other businesses
mama_bibi 2 points 1y ago
Oh well thats no fun then
MaterialLimit 153 points 1y ago
Oh hey we had this issue a couple days ago. Our oven person passed out bc of the heat + heat from the ovens and our DM made someone clock out and take her to urgent care 🥴 meanwhile orders keep piling in. Love this ethical workplace 😊🥰
gingergal-n-dog 69 points 1y ago
Dm made someone clock out and then follow orders? That's working off the clock. Nope for me.
idle-debonair 16 points 1y ago
>our DM made someone clock out and take her to urgent care

I sure *hope* that someone doesn’t contact the ethics line to report the DM forcing someone to work off the clock. Wink wink nudge nudge.
winifredsbitch 97 points 1y ago
Please file a claim with OSHA! This is sooo dangerous
romanianhopscotch 4 points 1y ago
Seriously. If that doesn’t warrant a store walk out, then idk…
aee78 52 points 1y ago
You're shut down, right?
soyboysucc [OP] 76 points 1y ago
The transaction train don’t stop 😅😅
aee78 88 points 1y ago
That's ridiculous. OSHA says between 68-78, so that's got to be breaking some kind of health code regulation.
anonbaristaandstuff 70 points 1y ago
I didn’t know this! Guess who will be reporting my place since it got over 100 today and they yelled at us for not working well :)

It’s time for violence
DieLawnUwU 52 points 1y ago
*did you mean unionize*?
rascallytrashbergs 34 points 1y ago
I want both
bizyguy76 11 points 1y ago
Not sure why people can't understand a simple concept... if you don't treat your employees like crap you won't need a union.

The fact that this is common practice says everything.
AuntieRia1128 41 points 1y ago
That is not okay! Definitely file that report! I’m glad you took the photo so they can’t fix it quick and Deny it ever happened! although let’s be real, “fix it quick”??? its starbucks… “quick” is like at least 2 weeks after a ticket has been submitted 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

It’s not safe handling dairy with it being that hot in the room. I’d call the health department 🤷🏻‍♀️
drinkliquidclocks 16 points 1y ago
That first sip feeling 🥰🥰 F
WallyBBunny 14 points 1y ago
Ours was 90 in the back yesterday and 80 in the lobby. Everyone was getting woozy. I had to call it in. The dumbass repair guy did such a quick and half assed job he let the blower catch on fire. I had to call the fire department/911 and get my people out because it was starting to smoke in the vents during the clean play. By the time we evacuated I saw his work van drive off. Apparently it could’ve burned the store down after awhile. 😑 Stay safe out there everyone.
spoopy_ruby 8 points 1y ago
This happened at my store once and I literally got heat stroke 🙃 it was 35°C so around the same temperature
kelvin_bot 28 points 1y ago
35°C is equivalent to 95°F, which is 308K.

That gets dangerous doesn't it o_o
istolehannah 7 points 1y ago
If its really set to 68 it might have froze the unit rendering the AC completely useless. Happens to mine if it goes bellow 69 ever.
Toomanyboringpeople 5 points 1y ago
I remember once during COVID in the summer in Texas heat, our air conditioner went out and we were talking to our SM when it was at 80 and we were all inside sweating, and she was like “lemme know when it gets to 90 and then I’ll talk to our DM about closing” well it got to 90 and she messaged our DM and eventually we got to 98, the whole day our SM was calling and texting the DM, she never replied, we never closed. I took Cat pay the next day. I then asked my SM later if our DM ever replied even to say sorry that she missed the texts, she said no. She never got a response 🤦🏻‍♀️ luckily it was a temporary DM and I like our new one so far. Sorry you were stuck working in 100 degrees today that’s freaking awful!!!
romanianhopscotch 3 points 1y ago
If I was the shift on duty I would have closed the store. Huff my duff Starbucks.
Js_On_My_Yeet 5 points 1y ago
Pretty sure it's against the law to be working in extreme conditions?
omogal123 4 points 1y ago
Absolutely the fuck not 😳
floofxs2 3 points 1y ago
Another day in paradise. A/C and ice machine broke during a heatwave and I was still tossing a hundred damn egg bites in the oven over and over. They just had CS run to the grocery stores for bags of ice all shift.
TransposedApophenia 2 points 1y ago
I absolutely would've tried to get everyone to walk out.
sh3nan1gans_ 2 points 1y ago
Our DM said we are closing if it gets to 85
Odd_Reach_8860 2 points 1y ago
our ac has been broken in our store for probably a week now! love it at the siren :)
SnooShortcuts8570 2 points 1y ago
ahh so im not the only store with a broken a/c that corporate refuses to fix i see
Lanky_Rip_5414 1 points 1y ago
Been close to there!! We don’t have the ac vent hooked up over the bar areas but it is in the far corner of the store where customers sit. Building mgmt is cheap. Wishing SBUX would own the building!!
