someone asked for blonde roast at 2 in the afternoon and when i told her we stopped brewing everything but our medium roast at a certain time she started crying/ yelling saying how disappointed and disgusted she was at me and starbucks as a company i ended up walking in the back and just sitting there for a bit
MLGTheForkOnTheLeft64 points1y ago
Look at it this way dude, YOURE not the one who is crying over coffee…
krty9823 points1y ago
And it’s not even spilled coffee

When I asked to use the restroom but my store manager said I had to wait because of Starbucks standard time rules. Then she told me if I needed to go more then once in a shift, I needed a doctors note to where I brought a note, and then she told me I needed to call the hotline to get it submitted. Soooooo close
PAINED_EARS74 points1y ago
thats gotta be against SOMETHING, are you kidding?
minty-hitler64 points1y ago
this is totally against labor laws, at least where i’m from. our shifts always have to let us go to the bathroom regardless of if it’s during peak or the 7th time that shift
GoddessDivine0010 points1y ago
If you’re in the US thats illegal

Yup I was in Florida

I’ve had this happened, had to use hand signals to say be right back someone take over.

the other day a customer in DT shoved a phone in my face, tiktok camera was on with a filter, he laughed and said “is it working?? you look so weird!”. i closed the window and just thought “this can’t be worth it”
swaggestlord29 points1y ago
i think i’d walk out immediately after that tbh
Sorry-Week423079 points1y ago
i’m hard of hearing so i often struggle when taking orders. i just switched to morning shift so i don’t know all of the morning regulars. i went to take a regulars order in the cafe and she asked for a “medium pour over”. she spoke softly so when i asked her “i’m sorry what did you say?” she said “ugh you’re clearly new here” and yelled over to another partner to come take her order instead of me. “HALEY, i need you to come over here”. i have been a partner for over a year i promise i know what a pour over is i just can’t hear 😭
GrayCera1230 points1y ago
Omg I’m feel so bad for you, I’m so sorry🥺. Those types of customers are just the worst. I also have a hard time hearing people when taking orders and honestly I would rather do bar than take orders because I can hardly hear, scared to get yelled at and really scared of the embarrassment of something I misheard. Especially people with strong accents I just feel even worse.
mailbroad16 points1y ago
I'm a customer. I think I must mumble sometimes at various places. Thank you for reminding me to speak louder and more clearly when I order.
FairProfessional06 points1y ago
I can’t stand customers like that. First of all, we all have trouble hearing sometimes, especially people who are literally hard of hearing, so have some patience. Second, it shouldn’t even matter if someone IS new because that’s not their fault and again, have some patience. I think these types of customers annoy me more than any other type. They think the world revolves around them and they don’t have an ounce of patience.
itsyaboimikey_1 points1y ago
i’m hard of hearing too! is there any way to help with the headset situation or do you just deal with it? bc my sm said there was no way to get even louder ones
Sorry-Week42302 points1y ago
i always have my headset turned all the way up but even then i struggle hearing, being on dto is honestly the worst 😭 i just deal with it and ask the customers in drive to repeat their order or use buddy talk to ask my coworkers what the order was ! my coworkers are a big help! i wish louder headsets were a thing, but unfortunately i doubt we’ll see them :(

Whe a sub SM tried forcing me to change my pretty open availability to basically full availability, because 1. "my spouse could make their own work lunch every morning @3am and still go work 12+ hours 6x a week in a rural area" because her husband handled his own lunch. 2. She believed me getting off the clock 30 mins before my religious events was more than enough time to drive home, shower, get dressed and still drive to church and arrive on time.
I just contacted my DM and told them that the sub SM was not respecting my availability and was trying to interfere with my religious practices and my work life balance. Never heard about changing my availability from that SM again.

Remained open for a two partner play for 4 hours at a mall store 😅 it was 100 degrees outside and we were tired and I couldn’t run breaks or anything. Everything was running out and I kept having to run into the back for things between every drink. That was my almost. My final straw was when I was forced to stay open during the weekend where the card readers were down. I had two call outs and I called my sm and dm because people were angry and we couldn’t handle the traffic. We almost ran out of $1 the next day (I had a total of 10 $1 bills amongst four tills. ) I was told that I had to remain open and people kept yelling at me because I was like exact change only. I gave in a four weeks notice after that bc I’m done lol. Fridays my last day 😋 every borrowed partner that comes to this store says it’s gross and it’s a mess. I regret transferring here to become a shift lead. Bye bye. Also I’m so done with having o my three partners on a Friday and Sunday night when we’re so busy bc it’s the weekend at the mall :)
jesthere33 points1y ago
I was a newbie and accidentally spilled an entire fresh hot venti pour-over on the back of my entire right hand. My hand was red and burning and they said they had burn cream but then couldn't find it. So I was in the back trying to run cold water over it to staunch the pain. Then I was told I had to come back up front and continue working, and they sent me outside to clean the windows. I was given a ladder, pail, soap and rags. No other tools. I put on gloves to try to protect my burned skin from the cleaner. My lowest point. That ordeal hurt me emotionally as much as physically.
nadsworld15 points1y ago
I’m sorry but I would’ve gone home the second I burned my hand no way they had u keep working that’s messed up
b99__throwaway8 points1y ago
exactly. incident report then urgent care since no one in the store could find the proper first aid
mushmushmushmus29 points1y ago
having to remake 3 tall vanilla bean fraps during peak because my SM saw me batch them 😀
nadsworld20 points1y ago
What kinda managers do you guys have to deal with, my sm would tell me to batch them 😭

Batch baby batch...

I have 2 moments: It was when I was working like 2-3 months in at my store. I felt so unwelcomed by the staff and they didn’t even try welcoming me (except for my SM) in the beginning. And by 2-3 months in, you would at least expect them to try and get to know you, you know? No one wanted to talk to me at all. Not even the SSVs. And when I try to talk to them, they exclude me from the conversation (literally wouldn’t let me talk) I used to work at a license store for almost a year before and I loved everyone of my co workers and I miss them to this day. Like they were so nice and so welcoming. But when another worker comes in from another store, they would make sure they feel welcomed and therefore I get treated as a nobody. For me, Starbucks is fun to work at when there’s good vibes, but clearly there’s been more bad vibes. I still work there 7 months in and I just don’t talk to anyone unless spoken to now.
During those times of being treated like a nobody, I would call in for a family emergency because I had things happening in my family, you know? And it shouldn’t be anyone’s business but mine. I had to call out twice that week and I get a call from my SM saying “Why are you calling out? What’s the reason?” Told them that it was a family emergency. And they kept pushing wanting to know what happened and all that, but I told them it’s personal and they go “Well, this is the 2nd time you called out and you were late once, want to put in your 2 weeks?” I was literally shocked when they said this and I told them yeah I will and hung up. I was going through stuff and they had the audacity to say that. And the one time I was late? I was late literally for 2 mins. because of a car crash that happened in the freeway. So I put in my 2 weeks when I came back from work. But my SM talked to me alone and apologized and didn’t want me to leave. I really needed this job, so I took back my 2 weeks and just kept working at this store because I need the money to support my family.
AlexanderAJ326 points1y ago
Some guy asked for 4 ice cubes completely seriously and then after counting them, said he worked harder than me.
itsyaboimikey_8 points1y ago
sometimes violence IS the answer
AlexanderAJ37 points1y ago
I told him I was disabled working three jobs and he shut up real quick
CyzophyTacos7332 points1y ago
People really don't understand that most people working at Starbucks have 2 or 3 other jobs to survive... because you can't live off Starbucks alone, unfortunately...
Inflation keeps booming, but minimum will never follow close enough for comfortable living wages.
Radioaactive23 points1y ago
Shift saying "I don't have to give you any breaks"
Final_Board7313 points1y ago
My previous SM would always say that and if she felt you weren’t working hard enough she would just say you don’t deserve a break and move on we had to constantly argue for breaks and we would get them at the me of our shifts and instead of 30 minute lunches when it was scheduled sometimes she would just give us a 10. Needless to say my DM and shift managers created a file on everything she was doing wrong and she got fired so fast.
heronfew20 points1y ago
one espresso bar down, 2 callouts, and all channels had to remain open on a weekend🥰🥰 very seriously considered walking out
caitlin_marie_gg20 points1y ago
when a partner on dto pushed me on bar out of the way and told me how to do my job… i was done. the final straw was when i asked if she could cover part of my shift and then after saying no privately she told everyone right as she was leaving that she wouldn’t cover my shift. lol
Decent_Wall138019 points1y ago
finding out my sm gave out my medical information to people for no reason and without ever telling me. i found out from a coworker when suddenly people knew things they shouldn’t about me
Final_Board7314 points1y ago
That happened to me too and she would make it seem like I was lying or it wasn’t that bad and tell everyone that I’m just being a baby and she wrote me up for calling out because of it and when I brought a doctors note she said it doesn’t change my write up
Decent_Wall13803 points1y ago
i called my dm and he overrode the 6 month req. for transfers to get me to a different store. i’m really sorry that happened, i hope you’re in a better place now
softvanillaicecream18 points1y ago
when i broke down crying at warming *and kept warming* until someone could come relieve me (understaffed, middle of peak) and then got coached because i "created a negative experience for partners" like i'm not a partner and i'm not having a negative damn experience
ilovelimes3334 points1y ago
lmao ive cried on dto & watched customers in the lobby & the drive thru ones stare at me it was so embarassing. i cried bc i had bad anxiety when i first started & still to this day i struggle to speak properly :/ but my whole store knew not to put me on DTO bc it wasnt beneficial for anybody🙉 but this one ssv kept putting me on there. i was 17 when i started btw.

Being called homophobic slurs over not having white mocha !
CyzophyTacos7331 points1y ago
People really do get Fiesty over white mocha... we had a shortage recently, and people really got so angry, and were overall just rude about it... like sorry, I cannot control what we do and do not have.
People believe fast food workers are magicians or something.

This just happened like two weeks ago, I had a three person close as far as I knew, but when I got to work it turned out my third person had called out due to a medical emergency. So from 3:30p to close, which my SM let me close an hour early, so 8 I only had me and another barista. No body eles could come in and the lines just didn’t stop. I ended up taking my lunch at 3 and tried to solo so my other partner could get a 15, but he felt bad, and only took a 5. I almost cried like 4 times that day, and actually cried once when a customer decided to scare me when my back was turned to him. I think I spilled like, 6 or 7 drinks that day. We didn’t leave the store till 9:45, I wanted to leave at 8:30 and leave the mess for the morning because of how done I was, but my coworker convinced me to stay and make it look really nice for the next morning (it looked sooooo clean) But yeah, I was about to just close the store at 6 no matter what the repercussions were
coffee_angel80111 points1y ago
Probably coming up soon one of my baristas is moving away, another cannot come back to work for 9 months due to a surgery and now we have to keep the guy we want gone because no one is applying for jobs or they get hired and never show. I'm in a store kiosk but cannot operate on 3 people.
becomingemily_10 points1y ago
Was down like 4 people, having an awful day, manager comes in and I thought “thank god, she’ll come help!” Instead she took one look at drive times and berated me on the floor in front of god and man for how bad they were until I cried. 🙃
Five minutes later she comes back with an apron on and the schedule in hand and says “wow you’re down like 4 people, I can be on the floor for an hour or two.” Never got an apology. 🤪
nondairycat9 points1y ago
Being told I had to work with covid 😛
fookyall7 points1y ago
It was my third week and the shift on duty that day was just being so shitty to me about not being able to keep up. Every time she would see me doing anything (cups, sugars etc) she would be like “I NEED YOU TO BE DOING THIS INSTEAD” like soooo shitty like and it just stressed me out so much I spent my lunch break crying and couldn’t even eat. Bleh. She was a fucking monster but thankfully she quit shortly after that and it’s been great ever since.
imvni56 points1y ago
These two customers were fighting at the speaker box while we were trying to take one of the cars orders. Apparently the group of girls cut the car off behind them and they weren’t happy about it. So everyone with a headset heard them going off on each other and dto could barely hold it together to attempt to take their order. Being on main bar, I took the order and was trying not to laugh while trying to take the order in between them yelling at the people behind them. (Because why are y’all grown adults fighting over who gets to order first) All of a sudden, one of the girls came storming into the store screaming and yelling at me because she figured that since I was black and the people that cut them off were black that I was agreeing with them. She told me that “since I was the only black person with a headset on that I was on their side. You agreed with them that they should come kick my ass.” Mind you, I never said anything outside of trying to get them to tell us what they wanted so we could keep the line moving. All the shit she said to me sent me so far off the edge, I walked out and started to just not come back that day. At the end of it all they ended up getting all their drinks for free 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️

Clocking in
VVITCH_135 points1y ago
I was working the window and this woman pulls up. It hot so we have the air curtain on. I ring her up and ask if there’s anything else I can do for her. As I’m handing off her order she asks me a question which I only hear the words bun and oven. It hadn’t even hit me what she was asking me. So I thought she was asking about food, nope she was asking if was pregnant (Do you have a bun in the oven). I full on was like ‘I’m gonna lose my job for going off in this woman’.
Thankfully hearing my tone when I said ‘No ma’am I’m not pregnant.’ Made her so embarrassed she drove off.

No ‘almost’ for me. My last day is Friday.
Buttafly_3602 points1y ago
Daam, care to do a Tall or Grande Rant on why? 👀
aspoonfulofsammy112 points1y ago
Bahahaha oh man. There are just so many reasons. My breaking point was getting my first write-up in my whole 3.5 years with the company. (This may be a venti rant. Sorry.)
A little back story… I’m a SSV, and as COVID went along, I took my role in the COVID coach very seriously. I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could to utilize that to keep people safe. So on one of the updates like 6 months ago, they changed the criteria to be more strict. (My store had been bad about doing the coach every day if I wasn’t there to make them do it.) The day they changed the criteria, 6 different people failed the coach. Drama ensued because I was told not to send them home via my SM and DM. I was raising hell because I found it reckless and irresponsible. I was told, very clearly and specifically, that new and unusual symptoms were the only ones we needed to count. Pre-existing conditions weren’t applicable. They would even go on to add that language to the coach.
So fast forward, and I’ve been through some more insane drama and I was transferred because of some really crazy shit. (Basically people fucked up their jobs and then wanted me to cover for them at the risk of my own job, and/or made my life hell after they got fired. We also had a barista friend who we lost to suicide, which was really the catalyst for a lot of the drama… and there is a whole ass Reddit post about their death. I’ll come back and link it in a second. $1) So I am at my new store, and I had to leave like 30 minutes early on a Friday because I had a migraine and it made me throw up. That’s happened my whole life… it’s just part of the process. I worked the next day, and when I did the coach, I answered that I hadn’t had symptoms of food borne illness in the prior 24 hours. My reasoning for this was that 1. It was a migraine. By definition, a migraine is not food poisoning. And 2. We had that previous intense clarification from both the previous SM and my DM that only new and unusual symptoms needed to be applied to the coach/check-in. That symptom has been happening with my migraines since I was a 9 year old girl. They are neither new or unusual. I was never told that had changed or been updated.
I was written up for fabrication of a legal document and intentionally misleading them about my symptoms. I protested this, explaining why I had said ‘no’ to the question and what I had been told previously. I cried like a little bitch. I was forced to sign that I had been told, not that I agreed with it. I called my DM because she was the one who had previously told me ‘new and unusual symptoms.’ I found out my DM was on vacation, so the next day, I got pulled into a meeting with my new SM and some other fill-in DM who knows literally nothing about me. I was manipulated to believe everything that had happened was my own fault. I was told I needed to get a medical exemption for ‘intermittent leave of absence’ because my issues counted as ‘irregular time and attendance’. (Leaving once, 30 minutes early…. Suuuuure….. ok.) I could go on and on about this meeting, but it was horrible. The DM put everything I said back on me, then forced me to ‘voice a request’ from my manager, and when I finally managed to come up with something, she reached across and held my hand with both of hers and just squeezed tight AF when I tried to pull my hand away.
TLDR; More than anything, I could just see the goalpost being moved (by upper management) to fit their needs and they don’t care who gets caught under their tires as they race to move it. Also, trauma.
Buttafly_3602 points1y ago
I ended up reading the whole thing, first and foremost sorry for the lost of your partner and I read tht reddit post as well😔 & second thats terribly crazy about you getting written up just for you following the directions on the Guidelines about the Covid Coach, I'm not sure why the DM or SM literally had you doing all of that for you just doing your Job!! I believe this is unfair, honestly especially, if you were trying to be a rehire at a different store or sum..would u go back to working for the Siren or start Anew somewhere else? Honestly I wouldnt blame u if you chose not to work at Starbucks anymore bcuz that whole thing was fucked up 💯💯 I'm sorry you got written up and fired over that.
Fine_Letterhead_45463 points1y ago
My manager and one SSV wanted to take down the pride flag sticker in the window because they were scared of offending homophobic customers. They were worried they would be giving them a bad experience since it's the first thing they would see walking into our store. 👍🙃.
apoz173 points1y ago
It's busy, we're all busting our butts. SM saunters down the aisle and points at each of us, casually saying, "I can replace *you*, I can replace *you*." The urge to walk out was almost overwhelming.

my first day ever on bar, about to clock out in 30ish minutes after an 8 hour shift. someone came in and ordered an iced matcha latte with no foam. i just made it normally and gave it to her because i didn’t understand that the leftover on top from the shaker was the foam the customer didn’t want. i passed it out and started to clean up and she called me back over to the bar and put her drink in my face and pointed out the foam and said “you need to remake this. you see this? this is foam. i don’t want that. this is missing drink. i’ll keep this drink but you’re going to make me another one.” just very condescending about it. so i remade the drink and my trainer was just like “it’s ok don’t worry just scoop out the foam and add more milk.” i passed the new one out to her and she condescendingly told me “this is exactly how it should be made good job!” as if i were a dog or smth. i was standing there like… do i really need this job😭😭

Someone ordered 10 Travellers during peak time
horseman-0bvi0usly3 points1y ago
we have this one regular who comes into the cafe every day, and he wants his drink made in a very specific way. he goes up to the bar while we’re making the drink and criticizes everything we do the whole time. if he doesn’t know you, he assumes you’re new and proceeds to “train” you, HIS WORDS, on how to make his drink. he’s consistently rude to partners & customers alike, so much so that he’s banned in every other local starbucks. that’s right, ours is the ONLY ONE within a 15 mile radius he can go to. we tried to get him banned from ours as well, but i never heard anything back and he still comes in every day. 🙃

Mine was when my manager repeatedly deadnamed me in front of customers over the course of my last 6 months. I started looking for a better job and found one last March. I now work at a trading card shop
theWaterHermit3 points1y ago
I have a coworker I really REALLY don’t like. She makes the job so much more stressful than it needs to be and is way too forthright in her criticisms about people’s personal lives. After being at the store for a year, she left for about six months, and then she came back. Whenever she came back, she came back as a shift lead, and I definitely thought long and hard about quitting
martinifather2 points1y ago
we were so slammed, one mastrena down, peak, and a woman who ordered like 8 custom fraps was clapping and making noises at us to get our attention to ask us to go faster. my shift told her don’t make noises at us and the woman went straight to the bathroom and stuffed the toilet with paper towels (the other restroom was out of order as well so after that we literally had no bathroom)
or when I was bar 1 for peak for 5 days in a row and we were once again down to one mastrena and my bar 2 was not helping me at all and I snapped and cried on the floor and just went and sat in the back for 10 mins
Ship_Safe2 points1y ago
also when all the card readers were down and my other ssv decided to restart all the registers during an afternoon peak so we couldn’t take anyones orders and we couldn’t close the lobby cause the dm said no and people were not happy

For me it was the rack in the fridge sliding down as I was putting an entire cube of Açaí in it that I just made and spilling that all over my already out of dress code pants bc I didn’t do laundry 🥲 It was also bc I already wanted to quit and life was life-ing hard that day but yeah it was my 13th reason on that day 😂 didn’t even clean it up bc I spent so long standing there debating if I should just walk out rn 😂 shout-out to my coworkers tho

Target Starbucks employee - when I opened and my 8 am coworker called out on a Saturday. Left alone for 3 hours. Asked for help from my ETL but all she did was tell everyone in line that I was the only one and thanked them for their patience. Our store is in a high traffic area.
Caffeineadick2 points1y ago
My manager stated she was gonna refuse to give us our tips if our customer connections didn’t go up. ((Labour laws in my place of residency straight up day this is illegal))
Zealousideal-Star4482 points1y ago
Because we aren’t getting Sunday shipments anymore we usually run out of a lot of sandwiches and food items on Sundays. This means when people say can I have a (insert any breakfast sandwich) I say no we don’t have that or ANY of our breakfast sandwiches but I do have… only for the customers to ignore me and continue to try and order that sandwich, it eventually gets in there head so they went through every single sandwich even tho I had said we don’t have any sandwiches like 5 times and said all the other things we do have an out 3… and then she has the nerve to tell me at the window I was rude at the speaker box. This customer was at the speaker box for like 9 minutes and I didn’t even make her wait before trying to take her order. Yea

Drinks being thrown at us. Almost walked out right after
Beanwater08222 points1y ago
I was shift on duty. A lady came through the drive thru and asked for a drink and a gift card. It was a really busy hectic day so we ended up forgetting the gift card (our bad whatever). Anyways she comes back through for the gift card and starts yelling at us. Threw many swear words at us and asked to speak to the manager (okay Karen) so I get on the headset and she start just ripping me a new one about how she had to wait in line twice and is still swearing at me. Im trying to stay as calm as possible. I was already having doubts about my job at this point. She just made it so much worse. I told her she was more than welcome to come inside if she doesn’t want to wait any longer. And she was not pleased. Our SM happened to be in the store at the time so I ended up giving her my headset and walking away from the situation. This lady then accused me of pretending to be the manager and called my SM a dumbass...
PrisonRiz2 points1y ago
When my new manager got hired.
She was another mangers wife and those 2 were BESTIES with the regional manager or whatever that's called. She recently had managed a home goods store I think so literally all she did was re arrange the store over and over thinking it was helping. She promoted 2 highschoolers to shift manager that had barely been there a year and didn't offer it to any of the more experienced baristas because "they didn't ask". Literally every last person that worked there when she started quit or moved to another store, and everyone sue hired afterwards was a moron. I was the 2nd to last one left and I ended up leaving to move to another city.
To top it all off she never submitted my transfer paperwork and completely screwed me over when I moved. I even went back to the store several times to ask her about it and she lied to my face.

Had a partner make a sign saying something with the word “too” but he spelled it “to” on the order screen so this old lady came to the window telling us we’re stupid and then when we handed off her drink she came back through the drive thru to take a picture of the sign and so we snagged a photo of her doing so. She threw the biggest fit. People are weird

Was told I could make ssv in a few months, it came up the position went to a new guy of 3 months felt betrayed by the company
rayaofsuunshine1 points1y ago
My DM (who was a 45 year old man, mind you) screamed in one of my coworkers (16 year old girl) for "contaminating the customer's drink" because she squatted down, and lowered her mask to sneeze so that she didnt get snot on her mask. Then when I confronted him about it after close as he was packing up his things, he proceeded to call me the T-slur and say that every employee at the store were whiny bitches. Reported him to RD, nothing happened because they were best friends, went to PCC, nothing happened.
AlternativeSolid73481 points1y ago
I’m a ssv. A customer threatened to beat up one of my baristas because the barista didn’t know the customer wanted a large water (we read minds at Starbucks). When I called my SM to inform them of what happened they asked what I did to make the moment right for the customer. I said I did everything I could before I sent them away for yelling and threatening a barista (they were hostile) the sm then insulted my ability to do my job. Even after I told them the customer demanded personal information about the barista so that they can “get her”. Sm didn’t ask about the barista just wanted to know why I didn’t coddle the customer as they threw a tantrum.

I did infact quit two months into it when my manager pulled me in the back, yelled at me for 45 past the time I was supposed to leave for an exam for organizing that I had nothing to do with. Like not even the slightest. She often did things like that and I spent my 30s crying. <3

this was last Saturday (for context, im a 300 partner and it was just me, a very new barista and a somewhat new shift on the floor for 15-30 minutes) within that period of time, some one came through, ordered a grande iced coffee in a venti cup, 10 pumps classic, 6 WM, 6 CD, extra ice AND vsccf AND shaken. This was a grande, just because you order in it a venti cup, doesn’t mean we are going to give you a venti and we aren’t supposed to (from what I’ve been told). She was like, I’m not paying that much for only a drop of coffee and I tried to explain why it looked like that but the common excuse “I order this all the time and it never looks like that.” Um yes it does, you ordered white mocha and extra ice and in a grande, shaken. I almost clocked out so I could clock her bc I wasn’t having it. I already was on edge. Then with the two new partners, still getting used to the job, I had both of them asking me how to find stuff, how to ring up stuff right, had to remake drinks bc the newer partner was still learning. I legit almost walked out that day bc those 20-30 minutes caused more stress and anxiety in me than this job has ever cause me (I’ve been here for a year).

we don’t accept $100 or $50 bills unless the order meets a minimum total. one day, this couple comes through the DT and tries to pay for an $11 order with a $100. ofc, i tell them i can’t take their payment bc we don’t have enough change in our drawers, and they proceed to *scream* at me that i was breaking the law and they didn’t serve x amount of years in the military just to be told by an “idiot starbucks kid” they can’t pay for their coffee… how the hell does being a veteran apply to coffee? 😭

When my old SM had to transfer to another store, we got a new SM which ended up being one of the worst managers I’ve ever worked with at any job. They have caused so many good partners to quit or transfer, and they’ve only been at our store for 8 months. They were externally hired as an SM in a different state, so they only has 2 years of experience with Starbucks in general, making things even worse because of the lack of experience (we used to have a top running and selling store in our district, not anymore) I used to love this job, but now it’s a constant struggle.
Edit: grammar
