i want to quit (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by evviiieeee
a woman came through the drive thru today requesting her latte be 120°F. so, i steamed the milk for her drink to EXACTLY 120 and poured it. when she was handed the drink at the window, she gave it back and said it was too hot. so i make the drink again, but this time at 105°, she is handed the drink again. she takes a sip, SHAKES HER HEAD IN DISAPPROVAL, says “it’s fine” with the biggest attitude and then drives off. i cannot stand these customers anymore

Omg yeah I get that feeling. I strongly dislike when people want a specific temperature for their drink and says “it’s not the right temperature” when it clearly says on the machine it was the RIGHT temperature and they start being rude to you when you are just doing your job.

They’re like NO my tongue is a more accurate thermometer!! Try again!
GrayCera12 14 points 1y ago
OMG YESSSS expecting their tongue to give out the EXACT temperature. Like gtfo of here already.😂

I think i died at this 💀💀🤣

I mean it is going to continue to heat slightly because of the metal pitchers (at least it has when I’ve experimented with the temp probes), so she could always order slightly under the temp she wants or just wait a minute for it to cool but that would be impossible, obviously.

i feel like the picky customers would be happier making their own drink, they need to invest in their own machine fr bc im getting tired of them belittling me when i’m literally making it how they ordered it
GrayCera12 3 points 1y ago
Fr fr. Like I’m not stupid or anything, it’s what the machine shows up or when they belittle you because you made the drink wrong like no that’s how it shows up on the recipe cards. Try to do this job and you’ll understand. 😂

no bc how are you gonna say you want your drink a specific temperature when u don’t even know what temperature that actually is
caseyfasey 1 points 1y ago
Watch them bring a thermometer 🤐
ExcitementClassic728 28 points 1y ago
People forget we are really just fast food coffee.
friendlySkeletor 22 points 1y ago
One of my friends had someone pull out a fucking laser thermometer to check his coffee temperature once. Customers are unhinged sometimes.
Ordinary-Theory-8289 9 points 1y ago
Those are not an accurate way to measure the temperature of a liquid at all lol
friendlySkeletor 7 points 1y ago
I never said customers are smart.

ugh i’ve had a customer who wanted 190 f one time and i couldn’t get it right and she didn’t even try it she just touched it and said it wasn’t hot enough like wtf.
evviiieeee [OP] 7 points 1y ago
our steamers won’t even go above 170!! they automatically shut off after. why do u want to burn ur tongue off anyway
Loose_Bumblebee 3 points 1y ago
exactly!!! i wish they could come around and do it themselves if they’re gonna be so particular about it😞
Exhausted_mama93 5 points 1y ago
I was told we’re not even allowed to go above 170 because of like health and safety, and quality etc. I had a lady ask one time for it to be 200 and my SM straight up told her the hottest we’re allowed to steam milk is 170, she got irritated and he said it’s a liability and if she didn’t like it get over it basically
Luna_Raccoona 7 points 1y ago
I totally agree. A lady made me remake a Frappuccino the other day multiple times because it “didn’t look right”. She said it was missing a ton of stuff….the stuff she explicitly asked us not to include (whipped cream, frappe chips, etc.) like wtf??? The fucking nerve that some people have is just ridiculous
Due_Ad_6793 -3 points 1y ago
The correct answer is "NO". There are temperature regulations you can't go UNDER or the steaming doesnt kill any bacteria, only encourages it to grow.
evviiieeee [OP] 9 points 1y ago
? we can steam drinks to any temp, no bacteria needs to be killed we’re just warming the milk for the drink. she was simply unhappy with the temperature of it

My brother in Christ, have you ever heard of iced drinks
