Anyone else have to take time to emotionally recover after your shifts?(self.starbucksbaristas)

Most days I need time to emotionally and socially recharge after a shift. Today is one of those days, especially because I had to deal with more rude customers than usual while also going through a rough patch in my mental health. So now that I’m off I have to be by myself in my room and listen to music with headphones on, so that I can keep going through the rest of the day without wanting to explode. I almost cried once or twice during my shift today so I might do that too now. Just me?

completely valid. i love my job so so much but i definitely need a break sometimes, even if that means just planting myself on bar and not DT or something. recharge your battery, it’s okay

Yesss I always feel bad whenever I ask to move off of DT (not often, I usually just cry internally), I feel like I’m complaining when I do but it really helps when I can go somewhere else in those stressful feelings

def not just you. my family thinks i hate them when i come home from work and hole up in my room for hours after. even just a 6 hr shift (i am a strict opener) drains me dry and i feel so exhausted and defeated by the time i get home at noon.

I totally get this. Any time I work a morning shift (like today lol) it’s usually the worst to recover from

yeah, i have pretty bad social anxiety and as much as i like working at starbucks, i need time to myself or with my fiancée after i get off. i get socially exhausted by most things, so i think it's good for me to take breaks from people after work
