Hi, 320xxx ssv here! I was promoted to shift after one month of being a barista. You don’t need to be a barista trainer for any amount of time, as one of the people above me mentioned, you just need the title :)

hi, i’ve been with starbucks for 6 months, was a barista trainer for a month, and right after training baristas for a month was promoted to SSV! there is no requirement for how long you have to be a barista trainer for.

It's not a requirement.

Technically you don’t have to be a barista trainer at all before becoming a shift supervisor. Otherwise we wouldn’t be able to externally hire shift supervisors, but we do. That said, if someone is promoted hired to be a shift supervisor, they have to go through Barista Trainer training as part of their SSV training.

You just need to be Barista Trainer certified! It's an asset to have trained someone though.

It varies I was a supervisor after working 6 months but that’s the requirement at my store 6 months and more. Some are more and some are less
