My co-worker body shamed a customer today (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Blueberryfudge
A girl came in and ordered a venti breve iced latte. She looked to be 17ish if I had to guess. Anyways, when she got her drink my co worker who took her order said “God I hate skinny b*tches” insinuating that skinny people can eat whatever and not get fat. I work at a tarbucks so it isn’t very busy and the customer clearly heard her say it. I didn’t know what to say and I said nothing. Thinking back I wish I would of. I think it hurt the girls feelings because she quickly left after. I honestly am upset at myself for not saying something but at the same time maybe if I said something it would of just embarrassed the customer more.

Yeah :/ she has also straight up called someone ugly. Once they started walking away 😬 They have a problem with everyone though, so it’s a problem with them

So, that is *definitely* something to report. Every time it happens. It's one thing to complain about rude/dumb customers in the back where it isn't heard, but customers hearing partners curse in general is Not Okay and is a fireable offense. It also sounds like your coworker is just a very mean-spirited person, because that girl didn't do anything to deserve being talked about that way.

Remember, assholes continue to be assholes until they are reported enough. Starbucks takes a long time to punish partners for anything. It took around half a year to get a guy fired for sexually harassing partners *and* being inappropriate with customers, and that was *after* we had finally started reporting him.
