people who don’t order ice cups or ice water while they’re at the speaker, but wait until they get to the window to do this.
people who add on to their order at the window
people who complain that their drink was supposed to be a venti when you double checked with them multiple times that it was a grande
people who have their window down and can clearly hear you when you’re speaking to them but because they’re assholes they make you work ten times harder just to get their orde
old people who yell at you for not speaking loud enough
people who order extra cream in their coffees then complain how their drink is too light… you ordered extra cream. if you pour extra white into dark brown, Surprise! It’s gonna get much lighter
people who make weird customizations and come back saying it doesn’t taste right. yeah no shit sally you added honey blend and dragon fruit pieces to your mocha frappuccino
people who stare you down and try to tell you what to do like you don’t have the sticker Right In Front Of You
people who whine and complain about our shortages as if it’s any of our faults why we don’t have oat milk amongst other things
people who let their kids order at the speakers instead of just ordering themselves… 🙄

\-Customers who don't acknowledge you when you greet them at the box. They talk to each other, hang out, think about their orders, and then like 15 second later go "yeah I need-". Like if you need a minute just say so instead of treating us like we're not here.
\-In the same vein, customers who don't look up or acknowledge you when they get to the window but are just going through their wallets or talking on the phone or whatever.
\-Smoking in drive thru lol
\-Staring from the end of the bar while you make drinks
\-Frappucinos with an "extra shot". I think with a lot of these people they don't realize frap roast and espresso are two different things and are inadvertently asking for something more complicated and annoying than they realize, but it's just not worth it to try to explain it.
\-I might be alone in this, but straws in flat lids. It's so unnecessary, it's wasteful, and it makes window interactions so much more annoying: if I hand a straw out, some people get like weirdly upset about it. If I don't, they'll snap and ask where their straw is. Those types tend to do that the second they see a drink in your hand, so actually asking them doesn't always work. There's just no winning.

Would you explain the frap roast and adding a shot thing a little more? I don't get frappucinos often but when I do sometimes I'll ask to add shot (or add it on the app) if it is really early in the morning because I never really know if the frap roast is caffeinated or is coffee or what. But I don't want to be an annoying customer!

Yeah so the coffee in frappuccinos comes from the special frappuccino roast we have for it - excluding the espresso frappuccino, we wouldn't do espresso shots unless specifically asked. The espresso machines aren't on the frappuccino bar and pulling a shot takes a second so it does tend to fuck with the overall flow. Not that that's a big deal, especially if it's not a rush, but I feel pretty confident that a lot of customers just assume the coffee in there is espresso to begin with.

People in the drive thru that make me lean out the window because they can't take their phone off the charging cord. Most of the time I peek and the percentage is fine and their phone won't die on the 2 seconds it takes to scan. Sometimes the percentage is low, but I know it still won't die. TAKE YOUR PHONE OFF THE CHARGING CORD!!!

Mobile ordering at the box and then telling us they just made a mobile order.
I started implementing something I call “customer coaching” to coach our customers to not do things like that:)) I just started saying “okay friend that just printed out for future reference try not to mobile order at the box and just place your order with us- mobile ordering it puts you in a separate line and actually puts you really behind in the line”
People have honestly been responding very well- I don’t say it in a rude tone or anything and every person I’ve done it to said something along the lines of sorry I didn’t know it put us in a separate line. Also I only do it on people with 5+ things in their order. If it’s something like a cold brew and a cake pop I don’t cause that takes 0 time to do.
Honestly been really helpful and at least the times I’ve done it the person is super nice- probably makes them feel special because I’m giving insider information or something lol

People who park so far from the window that my 5’1 ass has to climb out to pass out their 348 fraps and try to hear them past the literal highway traffic right outside
ETA: Also it’s always these bitches that don’t want a drink carrier

Customers arguing with me about what time we close. Like I work here, mobiles shut off automatically 30 minutes ago, the door is locked. Please stop shaking the handle and banging on the door.
In the same vein, customers who stand outside the door and stare at me while we're opening. We open at 5am, how is your coffee so urgent that you've been waiting outside and staring me down since 4:35??? Please go away
