I have no idea how to quit without feeling guilty (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by BlooperBoo
I used to like my job, truly. I spent years putting a ton of energy into it, helping solve problems, fixing things, doing my absolute best, but all I ever get back is “you forgot to put day dots on the tea lids at close” and “how dare you do actual standard and make me have to do more work” and things like that. Just. Soul-crushingly thankless.

I had my first at-work breakdown after YEARS and was sent home half an hour early the other day. I also had to take time for my brother’s graduation and my husband having to go to the hospital. But Ive also been covering every shift asked of me.

I have my first vacation in three weeks but Im not even sure I can last that long, let alone another two weeks after getting back.

Right now Ive been throwing up sick and got absolutely reamed for calling out but I just. Still feel so bad. Like I did something wrong or messed up. Im strugglin man.

Hello friend 🤍,

I definitely understand where you are coming, granted I’ve only been working at SB for 7 months. I love my co-workers and my store, however despite this being my first job and being able to finally make money, I believe that it’s coming close to send in my two weeks.

I also feel guilty about quitting because I like my co-workers so much, but the work isn’t fun for me anymore. I dread and get anxious when I have to clock in. This has been contributed to various other happenings in my own personal life, but I know that I may not be able to continue to the date I would want to. And that’s completely okay. Those feelings that you have are valid. If you feel that you’ve given all that you can to SB, then it’s okay to send it that two weeks.

You’ve done your best, partner, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Thats why I stopped covering shifts, I only cover for the 2 people i like.
Can't let management have high expectations for a slave wage.
