Question… (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Original1000
I’m very new to Starbucks. I just finished training the other day. I don’t have my own transportation, so I use Uber. My sm is still working on the lyft to work program with his boss.

Before I was hired, I was trying to get unemployment but was denied. I stopped applying when I got hired. I’m now trying to get partial unemployment since I haven’t had any income in over a month; and I need transportation money just for work. There’s about 5 weeks of unemployment I never received and am still waiting for the appeal to be scheduled. My question is, would they just move to have Starbucks pay me the 5 weeks worth? Or what. I don’t really know much about unemployment. Also would Starbucks deny me? Would they say something to me about it? I’m very clueless about this, and overall just struggling in the finance department rn

the details of unemployment benefits can vary a lot depending on the state you live in. You might find people more able to help in r/unemployment, but specify your state for the best info. Starbucks would probably not have a reason to deny your partial unemployment claim, but they also would not pay your unemployment for those 5 weeks - that is still the state’s responsibility.
