Did the Nonfat cold foam change?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by shipssiren
So, I've been working at starbucks for a year and some change now. I know they are discontinuing the nonfat cold foam soon.
HOWEVER, one of my shifts said that the recipe changed and it the nonfat cold foam gets 2 pumps of vanilla standard.
My other shift said its always been with 2 pumps of vanilla.
(For context: while shift one and two are usually right. Shift 2 gets much more upset about being proven wrong.)
My issue is: I have NEVER heard ANYONE say/seen/put 2 pumps of vanilla in the nonfat cold foam not even shift 2. We were always told/believed that the cold foam was the nonfat, unsweetened version of the vanilla sweet cream.
I've even tried using nonfat cold foam over the vanilla because its too sweet for me and its never thick once it gets to the middle. Maybe I added to much syrup but the nonfat completely wouldn't foam. And I even complained to shift two and stated I'll just use heavy cream and was never corrected.
Does anyone have any insight? Thanks!
Edit: I wasn't expecting so many different answers! For the most part people say its always gotten it, though I think four said it changed a year. But, I appreciate the feedback!

It’s always had vanilla! I no longer work there (232x) but I remember that it had vanilla.

I’ll have to ask about this cause I had no idea!

If you go to store resources (I'm not sure if you use a tablet or computer kike we do) but if you search cold foam it'll give you the recipe!

Cold foam has always had 2 pumps of vanilla.
As for foaming.. Nonfat never fails to produce the best and thickest foam, not sure why you would have problems with it.

yeah, it has vanilla. don’t get me wrong though, i’ve been there for a year and i just found out a couple months ago bc no one trained me

Completely fair, I learned a few months ago you can clean the dishwasher drain that was inside of it, absolutely disgusting
uwumoment3 points1y ago
i learned that today
shipssiren [OP]2 points1y ago
Was it bad
uwumoment1 points1y ago
it wasn’t too bad actually, the night shifts who do clean play already knew abt it so it wasn’t that gross

As someone who witnessed the birth of cold foam, regular cold foam has ALWAYS been made with non fat and 2 full pumps of vanilla. The foam for the iced cold foam cappuccino however was 2% and no sweetener.

It’s always had vanilla buuuut I’ve never in my life made it that way because I didn’t know until a week ago lol

For a while it was just nonfat but the standard then changed to it getting 2 pumps of vanilla a few years ago.

If I remember correctly, is has actually existed both ways! I remember that the recipe changed at least once during my three years with the siren. To be totally honest I would make cf differently based on the customer. I had some regulars who didn't want the cold foam without the vanilla and others we would be distraught if they took a sip of sweetened cf.

I found out It has always been two pumps. For iced cap, I don’t do it cause they don’t like it sweetened

2 half pumps, I believe.

When it was first introduced it was 2 pumps classic. When the cold foams really blew up it was changed to vanilla. It was never unsweetened though.
