The email of doom (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by liyahswrld
Hey everyone, so I received the email stating that I wasn’t selected to move forward to an interview. I wanted to see if anyone else has gotten this email and still managed to get a job. I plan on calling the store tomorrow to see if there was a specific reason why and if there’s anything I can do on my end. I just want to know if that’s a good idea as well. I was really excited and motivated to work here so I don’t want to give up after one failed attempt even if it means waiting :)

Call the store or go in and talk to the manager directly.

I'm a manager and I've called applicants who have told me they had received a similar email. I've never once sent any kind of email nor do I even know how they are generated. It's worth calling to find out.

What’s your availability? People get rejected on that alone.
liyahswrld [OP] 1 points 1y ago
So at first I thought that my availability was pretty open, but as I looked back at it I felt I could open and adjust it a little more. I resubmitted an application with a lot more availability at different times and more days

The few stores I help in always need weekend help. I would imagine they are hiring people with weekend availability. Some school areas have the opposite issue. All students so no one can work open/mids.

I was told 3 times by my manager that she wasn’t sure she wanted to hire me…I am a barista trainer, POQ and talking about being a shift. Some ppl get rejected bc they need morning availability ppl bc they don’t have the space for a night person. Try other places in your area! Don’t give up if you need any interview tips lmk I had another sm talk to me about the questions they ask and what they are looking for type of thing

Just keep applying to nearby stores, I applied to 5 stores, 3 ghosted me, 1 sent me that same email, and the other one invited me to interview which is where I work now. Starbucks employement is surprisingly competitive but also alot of stores are understaffed!

Also if you end up getting hired at a store you don’t live (team, location, etc) after a few months you can transfer, it’s a lot easier to transfer than to get hired.

Availability as others have said makes you more hireable, I was hired bc they needed morning people and I was willing to work 4am’s.

a lot of times it’s not necessarily you, but the other people who applied. you could’ve been great or had great availability, but someone else was just better or had more availability. trying to find a job right now sucks (at least where i am) so don’t get discouraged too quickly. a lot of places might say they’re hiring, but they’re looking for a specific type of person or someone who has a specific availability.
