Barista left (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by bande325
First in foremost I’ve survive the siren for a month🙏🙏🙏🙏

Secondly I was opening with another barista and a shift. And the shift was incredibly late. When they finally came a half hour passed the time we weee supposed to be there I realized that the opener who I saw here earlier left. First of all I’m pissed that she left a 1 month partner to open by themselves and secondly is she allowed to just up and leave if the shift is late?

if I was sitting outside the store with no communication from a shift for that long with no way to get into the store, not being paid, and wasting precious time I could be sleeping, I would have been gone too. it’s not bad on them imo, it’s bad on your shift. obviously shit happens but if no other mgr was able to come help or the shift didn’t communicate anything/they were still asleep and didn’t respond, that’s not the other baristas problem lol

also, you say “allowed” but people can do whatever they want. she may have been written up or scolded by someone about it but I highly doubt it considering it wasn’t her fault and most reasonable people (if no one was communicating to y’all ab who would show up and when) would have left around that point too.

Oh no no. At my old store, any time a shift was late and the baristas were there before them, they just put the shift in the book. They were there, not their fault they couldn't do their job. Not sure if that's corporate protocol, but it's fair.

It’s above corporate, that could be considered wage theft. I was told to report to my job at a certain time and I arrived there, you need to be paid for waiting around.

I think you’re harboring resentment at the wrong person here….this is on thr SSV who was an hour late to open the store lol

I get that the ssv was late but I understand their situation and why they were late that day. But it was the barista’s choice to leave. Idk I’m just salty that she blindsided me.

Again the barista isn’t the one who blindsided you. You can’t expect people to just wait around for hours with no updates

We waited for 30 minutes
