My SM insists on writing the expiration time on syrups. We didn’t do this at my last store so I was wondering if anyone could clear this up for me. Are we supposed to write the expiration time as well as an expiration date on syrups?

Everything should always be labeled and date dotted even if it’s obvious what is due to food Safety standards.

i think just the date should be fine. writing time stamps is something not even high end restaurants do.

If the shelf life is listed in days you don’t need to write a time, if it’s listed in hours you do.

I’d like to add that if it’s just 1 day then it’s technically only good for 24 hours so that should be timed and dated as well. It’s also just easier for other to know exactly when to throw it out instead of throwing it out hours early if it has a time written.

Are there things that say 1 day? I can’t think of anything off the top of my head, I just know it’s usually 24, 48, or 72 hours for anything under 5 days (I don’t think we have any products that are only good for 4 days).

Ok my inventory/back ups list I think the whip cream says 1 day. Might just be my stores list tho.

72 hours or less requires a time

Everything should be labeled and dated. We used to write some stuff in short forms and got called on that when food safety guy came in.

Just date is good enough for eco sure so 💁🏻

Syrups once opened are good for 30 days. I’ve never seen a bottle actually last more than 2 or 3….seems unnecessary to add the time
