TikTok Baristas 😭😭😑😑 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by blackboynxtdoor
Am I the only one who gets upset then disheartened when customers come through and show you a TikTok video of a barista in a cute little cafe store making a complicated ass drink.

I had a customer ask for a specific frappuccino today while I was on HHOP, I said hey if you have the recipe we can make it. She pulls up the recipe and is reading it to me and I said okay well what kind of frappuccino is the base. She didn't know so she showed me the video and it was a barista making it. 😑😑😑😑.

I cannot stand TikTok baristas. They make our job look like we stand around all day making up wild drink concoctions on our own leisurely pace and certainly give completely ridiculous expectations to customers. To me it’s like, okay clearly you work at a super slow store or something, but we don’t all have that experience and these TikToks need to stop. It’s not cute, it makes every other barista’s job more difficult when we gotta stand there and go through a TikTok with a customer just to get the complex drink order they want that wouldn’t even be a thing without them seeing that TikTok. So frustrating

what is hhop??

also yeah I’ve been getting a lot of TikTok drinks from baristas who make things like “forget me not” and “sunrise” drinks and then we get asked if we have those drinks and it’s like…. No… we don’t

Stands for handheld order point. So at my store during our peak in the morning and then sometimes in the afternoon we have people outside taking orders like they do at Chick-fil-A or In-N-Out.

Damn I’m sorry this happened to you… how would you describe your experience with it doe? This has been talked about for some time at my district and I feel like it’s coming any day now

I wish my store was slow enough that I could stand around and make concoctions but it's just not, so we definitely don't have time to watch customers tiktoks and then try to replicate the exact Instagram pic worthy drink that the tiktoker probably took multiple takes to make. Customers also just expect us to know the TikTok recipes, like what? No.

We enjoy it. It does help drop times, does make things easier inside, and it is great for customer connection. My advice is make sure you have as many people as possible that are trained on it. Because at my store I'm the one doing it during our peak minimum three times a week. But there were chunks of time where I did it for every one of my shifts for 3 weeks straight. So make sure multiple people know how. Only eight people at my store know how to do it. But there are over 40 partners.
