Question about running support (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Tough-Classroom6476
Say you just got on the floor and your SSV puts you in the support role. There was one customer order as you were clocking on, so it's waiting for you on the cafe bar. When you get there, you find 7 mobile order tickets waiting ahead of the cafe order just mentioned.

While making the mobiles, a group walks into the cafe and waits at the register.

Do you:

A) Greet the newly arrived customers and let them know you'll be over shortly while you finish the mobiles and cafe order in front of them

B) Pause all of the drinks in the queue to take their order before returning to finish them all

Or

C) Ask db to double bar while you take the newly arrived customers orders before returning to finish what's left

Greet the customers, tell drive I’ll be right back and go to POS otherwise SSV or manager are gonna morph from the back and point out to me there’s a guest who has been waiting 5 seconds.

Why are you Register and cafe/mobile bar?

That's the support role - take an order, make the drink & go back to register to help the next guest then repeat.

One guest/order at a time.

Was just thinking if mobiles are coming in then it’s impossible. My store is to high volume to ever have that as a possibility

Yeah there’s no way this is feasible. Mobile bar is a planted position. I’ve always known support to be a kind of floating role to restock anything for the bars, keep coffee brewing, and keep the place tidy

You've described CS, customer support. A different role entirely. But I don't disagree, it does seem infeasible.

There’s no right answer. At my store during peak, both Mobil/cafe and cold bar are planted positions. Support typically flexes to any station that is bottle necking
