thinking about quitting; venti rant(self.starbucksbaristas)

honestly im so done with my store at this point :,) I don't know if it's even targeted but I've been trying to wear dresses as it is getting hotter and hotter
Previously, I wore a skirt that was high waisted and was a tad too short, so I did stop wearing it as I was asked to. I always wear shorts underneath, but I understand-
A couple days ago, I wore a dress that touched my knees AND went pass my knees, as that was instructed recently.
Went I bent over to get smth, apparently the dress showed my underneath so I was told I couldn't wear it and it had to be pass pass the knees. Due to the skirt incident, I previously had asked shift supervisors if this dress was OKAY, color wise and no one said anything about length. I was wearing shorts again that day, and it wasn't a deep bend. Maybe quick and go, and I feel you had to already BEEN looking. Mb I'm wrong tho. But I stopped wearing that as well
I come in today- and see that one of the people is wearing a skirt that isn't going pass the apron and goes above the knees. Ofc I didn't tell like a shift supervisor, I'm not going to be THAT person
But I'm just frustrated that it feels like it was somewhat targeted, and I even asked the person if anyone said anything, and they said no. I just feel like it should be equal, but I don't want to dress up anymore in that fear of being seen that way.
Mb I'm just being brat, idk. I'm just tired of this and I just been feeling like shit about the job overall

As long as your skirt/dress/shorts are no more than 4" above the knee and are in the color pallet, they're in $1.
Talk to your SM. Maybe the shift in question isn't as familiar with the dress code as they should be.

It's actually the SM who had a problem with my dress, then the shift told me that's what the SM said. All skirts, shorts, dresses must now be past the apron and somewhat pass the knees.

SM can’t make up their own corporate rules. 4” rule is company standard
OkShift3328 [OP]8 points1y ago
Wait so it isn't a rule everywhere else? It seemed like it was recently being implemented. Can SMs have their own store rules?
nicolelynnejones17 points1y ago
Nah they’re just making it up. And tbf if they’re so concerned with you bending over that they’re willing to break corporate rules, that’s really weird. If it doesn’t get resolved at SM level I would take it to the DM.
Here is the most recent dress code, notice even some of the models have mini skirts on:
We're also a corporate store. Apparently the skirt work by her was approved by a shift supervisor as well??

Yeah people wear short skirts at my store all the time and the thing with the uniform that drives me nuts is some people can wear whatever they want and others can't. I got really upset one day when I was on the floor and had taken one of my piercings out as I usually do so I only have one facial piercing, and on the floor was one person with three facial piercings, one person with a pale baby blue shirt on, one person with a dress so short I thought it she was wearing a shirt with no pants and was like wait what??? So I put my piercing back in on my last break and not even a few minutes after my shift, who was wearing pale blue jeans stops me and tells me I'm out of uniform for having the extra piercing and I got so angry and was like no you are not going to give me grief over this when more than half the team is out of uniform. Nobody has commented on my piercing since

YEAH, I was crying because I felt so had but today I was just- pissed off. And my hours were cut to 14 hours a week even though I specified I need 20 a week.

Why are people watching you bend over all the time, that’s on them not you. I notice partners’ asscracks and grunders all the time when we have to get milk out of those lower fridges, but I’m not about to linger on it like fuckin Ted Bundy or sumshit

i would go to your district manager. starbucks policy is 4” above the knee, your manager can’t just make up new rules and say it has to be below that.
madisonla3 points1y ago
The only thing I can think that they meant by the wording is you know how some material is thin? Like some shirts you can see a bra in. I’ve had a dress that was completely fine until I bent down and it stretched the fabric so my underwear and ass literally showed threw the whole dress it was pretty embarrassing and one of the reasons I don’t wear dressed too often😂 anyways that’s my only experience or guess for that

this reminds me of the time a shift sent someone home for wearing “the wrong shade of beige” but turned a blind eye to the person wearing a sleeveless, floral minidress that showed everything 😬 it was a cute dress, just not work appropriate at all.

Weird question: do you wear leggings underneath your skirts/dresses? I wear skirts and dresses almost daily, and I have yet to be questioned about it even if they're close to the 4" mark. I've asked SSVs about it, and the consensus is "as long as the good are covered."
