grande sized rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by s08d19c
today i came in 15 minutes early with my hat and apron in hand. my hair was down since i wasn’t supposed to clock in until 1. the shift on duty threatened to send me home if i didn’t have a hair tie or a head covering (both of which were in my hands). he then ignored me at the front for another 5 minutes before asking if i was trying to order something. i said yes and started but he interrupted me and said i couldn’t get a drink since i was scheduled to come in soon. no one has ever told me this and i’ve even placed orders as i was clocking in. i was wondering if this was an actual rule that hasn’t been enforced or if he’s just on a power trip from being recently promoted to a shift.

p.s. i wish i could warn people before they ordered the pineapple refreshers 😭

No your food and drink markouts start 30 minutes before your shift and last 30 minutes after your shift and if you’re not on the floor making anything it shouldn’t matter if your hair is up or down say you you have a 10 minute break and you have a headache and you take your hair out of your ponytail totally acceptable as long as you’re not making drinks.

I would talk to your SM about that. That type of behavior is unacceptable and doesn’t make a pleasant work environment. We just all make our own drinks at our store 😂

He's on a trenta power trip and I would report to SM that they need to have more knowledge of basic policies...

Yea they cant tell u what to do when ur off the clock/not on the clock yet. U are allowed to order a drink at the register when ur off the clock and its not even time for u to clock in yet. This just irritates me. They literally cannot tell u what to do or tell u that u look wrong when u have not clocked in yet.

Edit: to add, u dont deserve that attitude and behavior from anyone especially a shift. Try talking to ur SM about it if u feel comfortable to do so ❤️

Sounds like an old shift supervisor at my store. The exact same thing happened to me but they asked me why I was still standing in the front. And I said, I’m trying to get a drink and a pastry before I clock in. They said no, to which I said, I have 15 minutes before my shift, I’m entitled to a free beverage and food item BEFORE and AFTER my shift. Would you like to see the partner guide? We have extras in the back (this was before the iPads), and they finally rang me up with 5 minutes to spare. And I still ended up making my own drink after I clocked in cause they refused to make it or let fellow partners make it. 😒

from what I know partners are entitled to a free drink 30 min before shift idk why they want to give you a hard time. definitely like what others have said here talk to your sm about it that's not fair at all!

I have been warning people about the new refresher basically just saying it's an acquired taste lol. so many people have been using their stars and birthday drinks to try this and feel way too bad. also it's like $5 to try even a small one! I feel terrible about people spending $5 on fucked up juice lol.

I’ve been telling people that it’s not my favourite and most of them get the hint. I do recommend getting it made with VSC though. That’s good. Like a pina colada

That sounds really good!

Someone being pissy. I’d say that’s not the rule. You aren’t even supposed to get the drink more than what 30 minutes before you start? Don’t take it personal they’re either stressed or have a crappy personality. Respond respectfully but don’t take their crap.
