Store Managers please answer. I’ve always been told that once a schedule is posted, if you are asked to leave early or take a longer meal, you have the option to say “No. I want to work the hours I was scheduled to work.” And you don’t have to take a longer break or leave early. Is that true? TIA!! (self.starbucksbaristas)

I'm an SM and this is always my policy. When I get told to cut labor after a posted schedule, I either cut myself or just own I am going to get talked to. I have been with Sbux for a long time & while yes, I need to run my business and be profitable... I do not feel that needs to come at the expense of my partners. If our algorithms are off, thats on US, not the baristas or shifts.

U wana come be my temporary manager while mine is on maternity leave? I need her back so bad because the one i got now is not too communicative and is ok with everyone calling out all the time at my store but once when i tried to, he guilted me into not doing it and told me my best bet would be to contact my one coworker to see if they can come in earlier than their time. Lol but yet hes always contacting me on my off days to ask me to cover for others. So he puts that work in for others but doesnt care when i try to use a sick day. Hes playing favoritism cuz he talks and jokes more with those other partners where he tries to find coverage for

Thank you for this. I’ve always thought to myself that if the company makes a mistake then that’s on them and just the cost of doing business. It makes no sense to prioritize short-term gains for a business over the financial stability of individuals. Starbucks can afford to miss every once in a while, individuals can’t.

I would love a copy of this as well thanks! My ssv told me the other day that “scheduled hours aren’t guaranteed, we can cancel shifts or send y’all home at anytime” and I’ve lost hours the last few weeks bc of being cut early

i’m not a SM but i’ve worked at two stores and both times i’ve always been asked if i Want to leave early or work my scheduled hours, i’ve been asked if i Want to stay a little longer or just work my scheduled shift — basically there’s always an emphasis on the scheduled shift being the expectation and anything else is fully my decision! i think shifts should always make you feel as if it’s your choice and there are no consequences either way
