Okaaay so maybe an odd question but I’m curious. The dress code allows things like skirts and makeup (atleast I think, I’ve seen people wear it a lot). So.. I doubt I would anytime soon, the skirt atleast, have any male or male presenting baristas worn skirts or makeup to work? I don’t think I saw anything saying we couldn’t? If so how’d it go?

at my store we do a "dress up Thursday" where everyone is encouraged to wear a dress or skirt, and we've had male presenting partners participate!! 😊 same goes for make up any day of the week! if you're interested in wearing either to work; I send encouragement to do so!

At my license store, we use to have a lax dress code but with our new DM, he is being strict to the point were we cant even wear diamond studded earrings or loose clothing. But my manager is still lax and the DM doesn't visit our store (like maybe once or twice a year) so before he comes in, she will give us a heads up. We still wear our usual clothes but even so, most of things I wear are cultural attire so I'm exempted from the dress code.

Wth you’re allowed to wear earrings the DM can’t just change the company policy just because they want to. As for loose.. it prob depends on how loose but mainly sounds excessive for the DM

nah, it's excessive, we can't wear jeans but have to wear form fitting pants (which none of us wear, we all have jeans) got to have all black shoes, can't wear anything else besides a specific shoe (which again, we ignore). it's excessive and our SM doesn't enforce it because she knows it's ridiculous.

Your DM is gone literally making up their own rules

yupp and we are a license store, which we follow the place we are licensed at, we have to follow their rules. I work inside a grocery store so I have to follow the grocery store's policy. And on top of that, what our DM says and from what I been hearing, he is even trying to restrict my attire (which is cultural) and legally, I'm exempt from dress code (to a point but what I wear isn't affecting my job or too "outlandish"), either way its ridiculous and we cant even wear nail polish or have "makeup" on (if we do, it has to be "modest"). it's that ridiculous

Do it! Do it! Do it! One of my hs baristas was super nervous about wearing his and I talked him into it! Now he wears them all the time

Theres a barista in my district who wears kilts to work (tight plaid in the dress code colors) and I don't think he ever has problems.

Google Starbucks dress code - it says that shorts and skirts are welcome and doesn’t specify anything about gender but it does seem to suggest you would have to wear tights with a skirt/dress and they can’t be shorter than 4” above the knee. Makeup should be fine as long as you follow the same health rules as everyone else - avoid glitter because it can fall into people’s drinks, and false eyelashes and nails are also not allowed. Other than that, do you!
