“Are the sandwiches and pastries fresh?” (self.starbucksbaristas)

I was on register when a family came up and started looking at the pastry case. I told them to take their time looking through and if they wanted any suggestions to let me know. Well, one of them goes “Actually ☝️, are all of these fresh?”
My brain went blank. I froze (like our sandwiches) and I wanted to respond so badly with “yeah! They’re fresh… fresh out the freezer” but I didn’t. I just said “yeah, we get new shipments of food every morning” and they ended up deciding on a few items.
Just wanted to share this funny intrusive thought I wanted to say out-loud 😂.

You can tell customers that our food comes to us frozen and we serve them within two days of thawing. I don’t know why people think we have a whole bakery in the back of our tiny Starbucks.

It was the same when I worked in the bakery at Whole Foods, "what do you mean your cakes aren't baked here?!?!" "Ma'am, do you see the singular oven I have? No, we do not bake our cakes here"

i have this core memory of when i was a customer and not yet a partner lol
but i've heard someone request for "fresh" cake pops??? this person said that they wanted it freshly dunked and the partner just went to the back and had the cake pop in hand like he had just formed it and set it on the stick lmfao which isn't how making cake pops works but i mean, the customer accepted it haha

Lol yea ive had someone look at the pastry case and order a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel. Like after he was inspecting the pastry case for a while. Then today i was on warming and it was just a few minutes after 6am so we were dead still and this guy is also observing the pastry case trying to see what he wants and he orders a reduced fat turkey bacon sandwich and while it was cooking, he came up to me and asked if we sell hash browns. My dude u were also inspecting the pastry case. There is none in there. We have no fryers (friers?) Lol idk i just thought that was funny like one of those times wen someone bought a tomato mozzarella panini and asked for a large diet coke
