Edit: I'm sure this is in the process of getting updated in August to be more lenient but a septum is just one piercing no matter what. About half my cafe has them. Partner Hub in the update titled (A dress code inspired by partners) says specifically "One facial piercing (any style)" which is further evidence imo. It's just one hole, it can't be two piercings.

If it were me, I’d keep PROUDLY wearing it as if the conversation never happened and let the manager do whatever it is they think they can do.

your sm is genuinely doing too much. your septum piercing is fine. their logic is wrong. if they bug you about it again you can say that Starbucks allows you to have your septum piercing out. either they’re just being prejudice towards you because of your piercing or what cause this is crazy

I literally have a septum and a regular nose piercing (which I’m pretty sure is actually against the rules) and no higher up or my sm has ever said anything to me.

you tell them "as per the official starbucks dresscode, i am allowed any one facial piercing so long as the piercing itself (not the ring) is smaller than a dime. unless you can show me exactly where starbucks agrees that my septum ring is two piercings, my septum piercing is one single piercing and does not count as two. if you have an issue with this i'll be glad to have this conversation again with the district manager involved so we can get to the bottom of this"

I recently got my septum my manger like it , your manager seems to be making excuses .. aren’t piercing supposed to come out on both sides ?

One thing I wish I did more as a barista was report shifts and managers for their wacky behavior. Call up your dm or partner support and ask permission to wear the piercing, see what they say.

Ya the septum shouldn’t be a problem. I myself wear one and we have a coworker who wears hers, just to add too me and the other coworker both have our nostrils double pierced. If it’s continues to be a problem and you don’t wanna flip the septum then I’d say just wear a mask if you could so you’re manager has no reason to complain because I feel once you try to dispute it then whoever at corporate is going to tell you “oh well the rules say only one nose piercing blah blah”

i have never once encountered an SM who cared about the piercing rules. if it’s such a big deal to them, slip the piercing up to hide it, or just wear a mask.

edit: also yes it’s rumored that the piercing policies will change in august to be more inclusive

Septum piercing used to not be allowed and was excluded from the “1 face piercing” rule, but there are new dress code rules this year. It includes by name septums as ok.
Personally I have 2 lip piercings since Jan (one each side) and my SM has yet to say anything to me. I wear a mask most days but the rare days I dont (lobby is closed etc) its still a non issue.

TIL that I shouldn't be wearing both a septum and nostril piercing daily....

I was always told that you’re allowed one facial piercing regardless of what it is. If you only have a septum piercing I have always been told it’s allowed. I have a nostril piercing and a septum piercing and my manager knows and isn’t bothered, just asks me to wear a mask to cover it which I respect. I’ve been told by multiple people that it’s one hole allowed no matter what it is (except for tongue piercings if I remember). Even if for some reason septum piercings weren’t allowed, saying a septum counts as two piercings is absolutely reaching and to me, just a tactic to force their views on body modifications on you. I was also told that there has been talk of possibly modifying the policy on piercings, but I definitely can’t confirm that
