Barista trainer advice (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by broookeee_
How can I prove to my fellow SSVs/SM that i’d be a good fit? I’ve only been with starbucks for 4 months, and I recently had a lil convo with my maanger about how I’d want to be a trainer, different things I value, and she agreed w/ what I had to say and even asked if I felt like I owned the barista position/knew all the drinks, and basically said we’ll take all we can get, reassuring me that it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been working. Today all the SSVs had a meeting and brought up possible trainers, but my name hadn’t come up (among like 7 people🫠). Usually SSVs put in a good word and even one of mine said they would if I showed that I could handle things on my own (not sure if circumstances where theres a rush and I’d need help counts but…hm.) It feels like only a few SSVs in the morning have seen me and I’ve proven myself to them and I’ve done great and handled rushes well with them. Other times, there are certain SSVs where I swear it’s like they’ve only seen me on my bad days and it looks like I can’t handle a rush. But I can! Not really sure anymore, I just really love teaching opportunities and was hoping when more new-hires come in the future, i’d be able to help.
