We cant say your welcome??(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by impasse602
My SSV and SM just told me when your on DRO/R we’re not allowed to say “your welcome” you HAVE to say “thank you” cause we are supposedly thanking them for spending their money here and paying our wage. It feel impolite but maybe its just me. Is this for real?

I love doing this

i refuse to thank customers., i hate them lol. i say you're welcome, because i'm the one providing the service, and damn straight i should be thanked for it with how miserable it is to be there all day. im aware that this is very bitter, but ive had a long day at the siren.

So it’s in our SSV training, acknowledging the customer aspect. It’s kind of like how Chick-fil-A says “my pleasure”. I don’t mind anyone who says something along the verbiage of “thank you”, like my phrase is “absolutely, thank you!” That way I’m acknowledging them saying thank you and also thanking them in the same moment and it glides well when you’re in the middle of everything.

Meh, it’s no biggie. You’ll find this common with customer service 😂

Someone at my store said this as well but it’s literally Starbucks it’s never that serious. Being polite is polite no matter how you chose to do it.

It's not a rule you'll find anywhere, but it's not worth arguing about. Just say thank you.

when i hand off a drink and the customer says thank you so much i say you're welcome so much :3

yeah i’ve been trained to always say thank you back, or no problem. but typically we don’t say you’re welcome. i’m not sure id make a fuss about it like your manager though

Saying "thank you" was so inforced on us that even to this day I struggle to say "your welcome" instead of "thank you." Luckily saying "no problem" is easier.

I don’t always say you’re welcome, but only because I don’t always feel they are

I will never thank customers. I know that a lot of customer service jobs tell you do so but why am I thanking a customer for buying a $8 latte?? It never made any fucking sense and I refuse to do it.

just keep saying your welcome
your managers are dumb
document this and each time their coach you and report
