Feel bad about customer interaction(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Rare_Pineapple_4233
My store was super understaffed today and it was getting in the way of the customer experience (longer wait times). I was on DTO and a regular, an older gentleman said “you guys are slow today.” I assumed, because we were getting drinks out slower that he was saying the line was taking too long. I said “We are understaffed but doing our best to get you guys through as soon as we can” at the window he said “Are you the one who took my order and said I was being mean?” And I immediately said “I didn’t say you were being mean” and then proceeded to ask him about his day/make small talk. Later I went home and realized he meant that we were slow as in not busy because the line was very short when he got to our drive through. He asked for my name and seemed slightly annoyed and I think it’s because I was defensive when he was just trying to make a light hearted comment that no one was in line. I feel badly about this because I try to assume positive intent and today I slipped up and made an older gentleman upset… anyways I just feel bad I let the negative energy of the store affect my attitude and I hope I see this guy again so I can make it up to him.

that’s a super understandable mistake!! don’t beat yourself up about it— you reacted politely even when you thought he was being rude. you’re doing your best ❤️
