i just started training (on my second week, started last monday) so hopefully i can answer your question.
the first day was just learning the ethics and online modules. you learn a little about what it means to be a barista. now is the time to ask questions to your trainer, they are your guide and happy to anwser anything you ask!
the rest of the week was training on CS, basically where you support your baristas refilling ice, getting more milk and syrups, and cleaning and restocking customer areas. the CS cycle is based around brewing coffee, so you’ll also learn how to brew drip coffee and complete tasks in a cycle.
then, we did register training and warming. both are pretty easy and self explanatory.
this week, we started learning on bar. we did espresso bar yesterday and cold bar today. i did a little coverage shift after each training, i don’t know that that is standard.
after that, you’ll work on drink sequencing and learn a bit more about what being a barista means and doing odds and ends.
remember a few things: everyone wants to help you. if they don’t, talk to your AMS or SM. your trainer is your best friend, always ask them questions whenever they occur. and lastly, it’s not easy. you’ll make hot drinks iced and order the wrong thing from a customer but you will learn! always try to learn from your mistakes and recognize when you need to improve. talk to your SSV when your having trouble, and make sure you communicate with your coworker. if they’re anything like mine, they’re gonna be amazing and help to learn with you.
if you have anymore questions, please ask me. i’m happy to help!
