yep! and the fact that they loudly exclaim how progressive they are in their PR stunts, but allow their managers to harass and fire their trans baristas in the same breath is the same exact shit.

it's abusive.

Starbucks union busting is crazy, yeah. But this is not a case of that. They are not allowed to change benefits, increase or decrease, without talking to the union. If they talk with the union and they don't agree to add this, then blame them. But they do need to go through the process.

They’re literally not legally allowed to

But that can be negotiated into a contract via your union...

nowhere does it say this benefit will not be offered to union employees. what it DOES say is that unions may bargain for something else using this benefit as a tool, so they can't promise every union employee will get it. if your union chooses not to accept the benefit, or to trade it for something else, you are bound to that decision regardless of your personal beliefs and preferences. this tweet is basically just made up for virality.

Nothing can be offered to union workers without going through the union, at which time the union will decide if you get the benefit or not. Welcome to unionization!!

A few people have said it, but as of current all starbucks partners who have starbucks healthcare will get this benefit.

Louder just in case - union or not you have access to REPRODUCTIVE AND GENDER AFFIRMING health care regardless of where you are located.

During negotiations a union rep could toss this benefit on the table in exchange for something else or because they believe starbucks won’t take it away. If they do this and land a bargain without it starbucks will take it away. It is doubtful a union negotiation will take it away, but it is possible.

For the current reminder for partners who need care - regardless of union status you are protected right now. Get the care you need.

This is the important message. Please leave this one out of the debate. Partners have access to care with starbucks health care currently.

isn't the whole point of a union to negotiate your own stuff?

No not in the slightest.

I'm a union rep for a much larger agency and there's a lot that goes in.

I can help anyone who's got questions or if you need how to ideas.

I stopped supporting Starbucks as soon as I heard about the union busting.
Making coffee at home again 100% of the time. I had to find a replacement for my bean supply but that wasn’t he’d and now when I go out for coffee it’s to a local place with far better food options!
Starbucks may have a near monopoly but they are easily replaced and often for the better in many ways!

I feel for y'all I really do. I left the siren some time back to pursue other opportunities but I still love coffee and culture so naturally I'm here.

I want you to see the writing on the walls with this company and make a good choice. If it's sustainable to your ecosystem then keep on but if it's not then run. Run far and fast and you'll see the light the closer you get to doing something better to make you happy.

Unionizing is tough but not all unions are evil. If you can stand this storm.of figuring shit out I'm.sure it will be worth it if you choose to stay.

Stay class y'all.
