Tips for warming up to a new location? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cantthinkofaname202
I’ve been with my first/current store for a little over a year. From the moment I started there I was so comfortable and made amazing connections with my coworkers. However due to some life issues, I have to transfer to a different state.
I went to my new store twice this week. Everyone seemed cold and somewhat rude. I know not everyone does well with customer connections but it’s a complete 180 from my current store. It seemed uninviting as both a customer and soon-to-be partner.
I have bad anxiety as well as self-esteem problems, usually thinking that there is something wrong with me when there isn’t. I feel like I could be looking into it a little too deeply, but I definitely did not vibe well. What are some tips to rid some anxiety when transferring and getting used to a new work environment?

small talk! asking about their life, talking about your life, finding similarities, etc. if they still don’t warm up after trying to get to know them, it might be a lost cause, sadly. you could always hang out at different locations in the area and observe them interacting with each other (sounds stalker-y but i swear it’s not 😅) to feel out the vibe of other stores if it gets worse and you need to transfer again!
