They need to organize modifications on the sticker in order of sequencing (self.starbucksbaristas)

Am I the only one who gets so frazzled when a ticket comes through with a ton of modifications? I feel like it would be so much easier if it was organized as milk first, then syrups, then shot type and amount. But no it’s just a cluster of commands that we have to pick out and organize ourselves

it’s weird because i specifically remember reading an update recently where it said that this was going to happen (i’m in canada). i’m not really sure if it’s happened yet tho. usually i’m on drive bar and when an order is being made i don’t even look at the sticker i have a pretty good memory. but next time i’m on cafe bar i’ll have to check this out bc i have a feeling this is happening for us in canada right now.

Yes!!! I read this too, they did update a small amount of things to reorder themselves but not everything so now it’s almost worse😂

ugh that’s so annoying… hopefully they fix it

I remember this as well

I can’t think of a better way to make an AI rise up and kill us all than assigning it to order items on Starbucks drink tickets

Lol no i feel the same. Especially when the ticket is super long and it makes me feel like I have to take out a pen just to cross off the modifications after each use lol

It’s just another illustration of the wider and wider divide between the corporate and store partners. Sure, they’ll tell you that we’re all partners and I’m sure they actually believe that too. But more and more, the only exposure anyone in upper management has is to do a very brief “go see” form a very safe distance in one of our partner petting zoos. It’s not just that they don’t want to, it’s literally that no one up there has even thought about it. Because, why would you waste time thinking about HOW things are done when you could produce the same results just yelling at you DMs to yell at their managers more to yell at the shifts and baristas to go faster? Why spend money fixing things when you could just push people to go faster for free?

Sure, it might be a significant undertaking to overhaul our POS and sticker printer to actually print things in a logical and consistent order. But honestly, it would be less work and lost resources in the long run than just letting it go as is and allowing drinks to be made wrong and wasted and also wasting time remaking things. But who knows if they’ll ever get around to actually doing that because in their minds we’re all just whiny entitled baristas who are doing a super easy job and any un-productivity is due to us being lazy, not the system just being a mess.

Yes! Echoing my exact thoughts about this. I get so frazzled and have to slow down so much for drinks with a ton of modifications because the order of mods is so out of sync with our sequencing. So often, it’ll say the modified shot amount or “blonde” at the very bottom and I’m like really? Great, already started pulling the shots because I was trying to work quick and pulled the wrong shots because this was specified at the bottom of a super long order. That is my fault for missing it, but I’m trying to work so fast that also taking time to break down the order feels interruptive. The mods are all over the place, everything is out of order.

For me, it takes so much mental space for me to try to organize all the mods in my head to fit with my process of making drinks when I’m making a complicated drink and it’s so easy for me to miss little mods every time because I’m trying to multitask and work fast. I’ve decided I have to slow down sometimes to make sure I make the drink right, rather than having to remake it. I’d say it should be order of: milk (including temperature), syrups, shots, toppings (drizzles, cold foams, various toppings)

It's not gonna be practical, the way modifications are done now (especially with cold foam), it breaks sequencing every single time. Unless they start putting like 2 blenders at hot bar just for cold foam then nothing is gonna be sequenced properly - and Starbucks doesn't care, they're not the ones making the drinks, only increasing the price while blaming unions.

1. Even ONE blender at hot bar would be heaven, but I imagine a lot of stores don’t have the space for that
2. I think they’re referencing stuff like just having the shot type all together rather than having “blonde” at the top of the cup, “double” after five modifications and “ristretto” second to last

it would work quicker if they used the old markings we used to use.

L for latte and N for nonfat.

so instead of trying to read
Grnde Vanla Late
nonfat milk
4 pumps of Vanilla

a sticker pops out with
**G**

**V**

**N**

**L**

make iced just a i before the size so you don't have to read the ticket before grabbing a cup.

plus would help when the ticket machine goes down and people need to mark a cup.
