Are you asking from an sm approach, ssv approach, or barista approach? That'll help me give you more in depth suggestions.

Generally before giving ideas depending on which approach you're asking about, focus on deployment principles and roles and routines. Customer Connection isn't a one size fits all situation but regardless of what your channel mix looks like, the operations score and key drivers go in tandem with the customer connection score. For example, can you expect a 7 on "an employee got to know me" if the speed of service wasn't where it should be even if the window person did everything they could? In that case, is your store truly transformational or just transactional?

I’ve kind of checked out with customer connection but a lot of the times I ask abt how the days treating them, what they’re up to (more friendly way: “what are we up to today?”), being truly yourself and aloof just to get a smile on their face is enough and the best connection you can get really. yup, remembering their order too, i’ve been on dto for so long that when my regulars come through the drive thru i just got “i got you ___ we’ll see you at the window !” or greet them by their name as soon as they pull up. honestly just treating them like they’re apart of it all is what’s most important. it makes them feel so welcomed.

I’m one of the top people are my store to be very hyper and talkative with customers. Couple of tips I have

1. Try to remember names and questions you have asked them. For example, where they work or if they are going anywhere for vacation

2. If they have an iced drink, ask them if it looks correct especially if they give it a weird look

3. Specifically if you’re in mobile bar, Let them know they’re next in line or their shots are being pulled or frap is being blended or drink is being iced, just so they know you didn’t forget about them.

For Drive thru, I generally try to make everyone smile or laugh, I asked how their day is going or if they have any plans. I compliment something, their nails, hair or outfit.

How do I approach this without it being uncomfortable? I’m naturally introverted. I did see a woman with a real estate shirt on and asked about where she worked and if they did rentals and she really seemed to enjoy the conversation and found her business card to give me. I haven’t had many others like that though. Sometimes I’m so caught up I’m learning the basics in training and making sure I got everything done that I don’t know how to connect.
