Hey! I have a question partners. I am wanting to promote to shift supervisor, but I want there to be NO question of whether or not I am ready for it. I was looking at the partner hub and I can see ssv training videos, and many other shifty things. If I watch them will I get fired or written up? (self.starbucksbaristas)

You wouldn’t get fired for it; you’re watching /Starbucks/ training videos. If anything, that might give you an idea of how to prepare for the role, or observing your SSVs to see what things they do might be helpful too. If you feel confident in your current role and you feel ready to take on the challenge, talk to your SM and they will help put you on track.

You could ask your shift what you can do to help them? Or something you can be in charge of? Say.. checking all dates? Checking that everything is fifoed ... deep cleaning in between rushes... being a positive light and encourager during morning peak/rushes. Showing you care about the stores operations and cleanliness will help you stand out for sure

You will not get written up or fired. Don’t do it off the clock though. I’d suggest talking to your SM to let them know you are looking to promote. I’m always willing to help baristas get to the next step. I usually do weekly check ins with partners wanting to promote to see what they learned that week, coached on, and taking accountability.

I mean most SSVs are going to feel glad there’s someone caring & an extra pair of eyes on shift to know and notice when things are going wrong. As long as you don’t use the training to undermine the SSV running the shift, should be fine!

Even if I could I wouldn’t look into cash management or anything that could be considered shady. I’ve been having discussions with my SSV about making a development plan. I just wanna know as much as possible and I have already pestered them with a lot of questions lol
