The app will sometimes give people deals where if you order a latte you can get bonus stars. She probably did this so she could have the drink she actually wanted but still get bonus stars.
batman_thedead85 points1y ago
im gonna start assuming that people order this kind of stuff because of the app and stars and whatnot so i stop questioning the weird list on the sticker
Assiqtaq13 points1y ago
Yeah actually this makes perfect sense.

to be fair… the name caramel macchiato is misleading
peepeepoopaccount36 points1y ago
A woman today ordered a doppio macchiato and made sure to repeat like 3x that she wanted the little one with foam and expresso bc she said we confuse it a lot 😂 our caramel macchiato isn’t even a macchiato tbh
cooterbrows27 points1y ago
if i live 1000 years more i will never ever forget how much i was left all by myself as a green bean and how i panicked the first time someone ordered that and simply made a caramel macchiato with no syrup or drizzle 🥴🫠
gilbasrevenge8 points1y ago
I’m cackling… we have a traditional macchiato guy at our store and he’s always so tense for this reason.
cooterbrows5 points1y ago
lmao it’s just the same man and i messed up his drink so bad that he switched over to your store, but still is haunted by what i assume was a watery and unpleasant beverage
djdementia12 points1y ago
> caramel macchiato isn’t even a macchiato
this trope is 'getting old'.
macchiato actual translation from Itallian to English means "stained / touched". a better English translation for food though would be "lightly topped" or "just a spot of".
A caramel macchiato has "just a spot of" **caramel**.
A macchiato is a different drink - it is actually shorthand for "steamed milk macchiato". In other words "lightly topped" with **steamed milk**.
It's the same way that ordering "fries" on the menu is very different than ordering "fried chicken".
* "Fry" = short for "fried potato" * "Fried Chicken" = different thing than "Fries" * "Macchiato" = short for "espresso lightly topped with steam milk" * "Caramel Macchiato" = different thing than "Macchiato" as it is the **caramel** that is the "lightly topped" thing in this drink, the espresso and milk are normal amounts.
People arguing that "Starbucks" Caramel Machiato is not a real Macchiato is roughly the equivalent of going online to say KFC's "Fried Chicken" is not a real "Fries". "Macchiato" is a name for a preparation method not the name for an actual item - however just like "Fries" it kind of got adopted for the most common use of the preparation method.
It' just shows your lack of understanding of the terms and translation more than anything else.

I definitely do agree but I think people mean “real macchiato” as in meaning “traditional macchiato” which Starbucks caramel macchiato is definitely not a traditional one. But overall do agree

Thank you for typing this. Its pretty much the idea. It just that it’s for the espresso not caramel. I always told my baristas think of macchiato/marked. It’s marked/ stained with espresso. Because all macchiatos are espresso. That way they still understand even though it’s caramel it’s still a macchiato. Just a different version.
Responsible_Snow710912 points1y ago
Wait lol did she just assume it would be cheaper this way because the base drink is an iced latte? Lol oh no she probably did this without thinking to checked the iced caramel macchiato price and just assumed 😬
Magnumxl7119 points1y ago
> she probably did this without thinking to checked the iced caramel macchiato price and just assumed 😬
I used to wonder why some people ordered the caramel macchiato and then immediately stirred it up, but then I realized it's cheaper than a vanilla latte
Responsible_Snow71093 points1y ago
Yepp its cheaper than a vanilla latte lol i used to wonder the same thing too because i would never pay attention to prices too much when ringing people up at the register but then i heard everyone saying that the caramel macchiato is cheaper so now i dont bat an eye when i see it ordered as caramel macchiato upside down lol. But I've hardly seen people order a latte and try to mimic it with a caramel macchiato
insertusernameplease3 points1y ago
Probably for bonus stars
Responsible_Snow71091 points1y ago
Not that i use the app but i thought they offer stars for more of the specialty drinks such as mochas or caramel macchiatos etc. But i guess they probably do it for lattes too
greenChainsaws8 points1y ago
she couldve said "iced caramel macciato with an extra pump of vanilla" but NOOO
Solid_Wish6 points1y ago
Cecelia, you're breaking my heart, just order a caramel mach babyyuy

Trumps_left_bawsack-2 points1y ago
They're probably a gold member and just doing this to get an iced caramel macchiato for cheap since the drizzle and the vanilla will be free.
