Borrowed partners at *that* store (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by uwumoment
Just a little rant. I work at the busiest store in the entire state, we are off of an interstate highway so we get hella traffic. Usually our store runs out of product too fast for us to have enough in the orders, we never have time to clean, and our schedule has been fucked since our labor hours don’t match the amount of traffic we get. So we are known as “that store”, the one that’s always chaotic, always broken.

Our store doesn’t have enough labor hours for the people struggling to pay rent to be scheduled, but we have enough labor hours to have borrowed partners? Anyways, these borrowed partners are just absolutely obsessed with all the rumors they’ve heard about our store, so they’re like little kids in a gift shop asking me “is it *usually* like this? like this *messed* up?”, and chuckling the whole time. This behavior is so annoying to me. Yes, our store is poorly managed. I am doing my best here. I usually try not to be so negative about borrowed partners but everytime i see them scheduled i am NOT excited about it. Just another person to talk about how shitty our store is like i didn’t already know.

Yea i never understood that. If there are not enough labor hours to give out to partners, then why let borrowed partners come to the store to work instead of giving out those hours to partners who are already employed by that store who are starving for more hours??

right!! and im not usually one to judge them but they never expect the volume of the store because they don’t work here normally so they usually freak out and get stressed! it makes me feel terrible for them but also not bc they’re insulting my store 😢

No i get it completely! Its like theres other partners at the store that need and want more hours badly but they don't get the hours and instead a borrowed partner comes to the store and then freaks out at how bad or crazy it is at ur store. I would never do that cuz thats kind of rude and weird and awkward😟

yea this happens at my store too :( borrowed partners will come and complain about everything at the store and how “gross” it is but wont try to help us at all when we are just busy and trying our best!

This is my stores current situation. We are one of if not the busiest in the district and we don't have enough workers for the hours needed and running out of product is every day almost. Our Manger is trying to hire on more and give us more hours since luckily she asked if we would be open to more and most of us are but we still need more people. The trainers we have are borrowed partners and it's non stop compressions and some slight jokes because we don't have the supplies or the tolls. It makes me feel bad about my location but we can't do anything our Manger is trying.

Location is destiny… and i feel like our geographical location is just a shitty situation. We are ordering properly, but we often don’t even get everything we order on truck, so we run out very often and it’s just embarassing for a store that’s so busy to always be out of so many core items. At our store, we hired “way too many” employees, so they had to cut hours. We usually have 100 coverage hours scheduled a day, but i think it should be at least 120 a day.

It sounds like it honestly, sorry to be blunt but it really is shitty. Our store has an issue with needing more labor but yet not enough hours for people to come in to do the labor we need. We are consistently out of main items like cold brew, refresher bases, lemonade, oak milk, etc. I can relate to your store struggle and hope it improves on the furture.
