Assigning after close (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by trash_account_21
A partner I closed with today asked me if I could assign quick before we left so she could do her markouts, I did just because I thought I was being nice but our shift lead said we weren’t supposed to do that after close. I have an anxiety disorder and it’s going to eat me alive thinking I’m in trouble until the next time I work, has this happened to anyone before? What should I expect?

Your leads technically correct, but more than likely your just making their job harder cuz someone being at the POS might [emphasis MIGHT] INTERFERE with their money cash procedure

While technically yes registers shouldn’t be used after closing (bc there shouldn’t be a need to in the first place), as long as no transaction takes place (as in, money for goods) it won’t mess up anything money wise or deposit wise. Since markouts don’t exchange any money, that falls in this category. Since there is no red flag there for anyone to notice, management/corporate won’t find out and life goes on :) I see no reason at all for you to worry :)

I’m sure this happens more than anyone realizes.

lmao i have SSVs who mark things out after close all the time. my store doesn’t say anything about it so i wouldn’t worry about it, as long as you’re not using cash after close, but markouts should be fine
