Short Rant: Cycling positions(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by 5AV1OR
I hate getting left in the same spot for a whole shift. If my shift is longer than 2 hours please move me at-least once. That is all.

especially if it’s drive window or another position with high customer interactions! i can only act energetic and happy for so long

Same. Some days I don't mind it, but when I'm done, I'm DONE. When that happens, I've recently begun reminding myself that I don't have to actually feel energetic/happy, nor am I obligated to overly engage. 'Polite and professional, but impersonal', I guess is a good way to put it.

completely felt that. the other day i got put in window for 4 hours after finding out my hours had been cut by 60% for the coming weeks and it was almost my breaking point ngl. i kept responding “i’m doing great!” whenever customers asked me how i was (even tho i was very much so not doing great). really made me wonder how customers would respond if i told them how i was genuinely doing when they asked oop

I've been there, and I'm so sorry. I've had the same thought, though. I honestly don't think most customers could fathom it. Based on the number who think we somehow bake all our pastries fresh in BOH, at least.

As a supervisor, I try to move people every time I give a break-so about every two hours. Obviously adjustments have to be made for green beans but I try to get everyone moving around. It’s actually in the training that we move around to avoid repetitive motion injuries.

2 weeks ago I spent 6 shifts back to back in window for atleast 4 hours every day This last few days I’ve been on bar for my whole shifts :( I 100% understand when they don’t have a choice (like we are understaffed or opens on a weekend (usually it’s just three of us for the first 3 or so hours) but like so many times they just forget or don’t pay attention to swapping people

I only stay on bar. Everyone at my store knows I love it. Not to mention I both hate and suck at customer interaction even if i try. I just want to keep my head down and slam out some drinks.
