Question about Coffee Masters (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by CapableArtist123
So I’ve been with Starbucks for almost 2 years. I first started worked 5 days a week but now I only work two days a week due to college. When starting the coffee masters what does it entail, I’m a bit confused. Does this include coffee tasting with your SM or DM, do you do the training in the back house while at work? if someone could clarify that would be great!

Hi! SM here :D 100 levels and 200 levels are unpaid! The final 300 level is paid so all you have to do is connect with your SM and get some training scheduled so you can get it done! The final part of your certification also includes a formal coffee tasting. It really depends on the SM, I’ve had managers that do the tasting with the shift team or a group of baristas. Back in the day my manger made me do it with her and some of our regular customers she invited, it was actually really fun. If you like public speaking it’ll be a cake walk!
