SSV Rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Negative-Rope1629
So we recently had a hiring spree at my store….. as one does. Anyways we hired a new shift externally, and she’s only been here less then 3 months and has been late numerous times and will possibly be leaving in 2 months due to her partner getting a new job.

I understand she’s technically a new barista, and everything comes with time. But I honestly don’t think she is a good fit as a supervisor, as a barista she is doing fine. Just by seeing her work ethic and how she is in her everyday roles. I just can’t see her in a shift supervisor position. It’s frustrating because we keep wasting money to hire shifts that are not strong when we could be putting more money into making the baristas we have now stronger and willing to be in leader positions. (This is not the first time we have had problems with weak shifts) I don’t know if it’s only me that feels this way, but I know that as a shift you need to be assertive and have good time management. When you come in to every shift late or cutting it close, it just doesn’t seem like she’s committed.

I don’t know if I’m being too harsh, because I expect a shift to be hardworking. It was just bothering me to see that.
