becoming a barista trainer ! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Past_Capital2051
so recently my store manager has asked me to become a barista trainer, and i said yes of course. i’m scheduled for training starting next week and i’m lowkey so nervous.

any good tips on training new green beans? i still feel like i’m new, as i’ve only been with Starbucks since late December. i know what i’m doing and i know how to do a majority of stuff at the bux, but i’m still nervous that i’ll mess it up.

tips and advice appreciated!! thanks!

my trainer sat with me when I was doing the online portion, walking me through EVERYTHING. she also introduced me to everyone on shifts to get me comfortable with them. I suggest once it gets to the end of training to tell them what is unofficially ok at your store, tell them what is expected when it’s slow, and break/prevent bad habits (like at my store the person who has been here for about a month-after training- has been pulling my bar 1/Dt drinks first while they have bar 2/cafe/mobile drinks and then doing those after customers had to wait)

My biggest tip is to verbally explain first, then show them while describing each step, then have them do it with your guidance. When correcting them make sure to give a reason why we do it the way we do it. From my personal experience the training is big for giving the green bean familiarity of the environment and hopefully getting them comfortable with a few partners!
