ok so my first day is on the 22nd and i am so nervous since this is my first job. i am a highschooler and part of the student council so there would be days where i would need to stay after school. would starbucks allow me to take some days off if i bring it up in advance???
also, i have to go to my home country for a MONTH in sept so i am nervous for that too. i wanna keep working there but would they keep me after my trip if i communicate with my manager? i rlly need help

as long as you're a reliable employee and you bring things up much in advance then you won't have to worry. whenever u start, talk to your manager asap so they're aware of your month off and can help accommodate to that

I am in a similar situation. You can swap shifts if you have a school event when you work, or you can request the time off 3 weeks in advance if you know the date early. Definitely talk to your manager about the trip, as long as you let them know early enough I’m sure something can be worked out. Good luck!

okay so i’ve never replied to one of these before and. i know i’m late but i relate SO much to this post 😭😭 i’m gonna be off for a month (or maybe more) next summer to visit my home country and i’m already dreading asking for it when it comes. but not even that, i always have weddings and parties come up for people i know/related to and have already called off 2 times (almost 3) bc of them. ive been working there for a month and a half now and i feel like i’m a bad worker but i cant tell??? i hate asking my manager ab all these things bc 1. i feel bad and 2. if i do it all the time i’ll seem irresponsible. idk why i’m ranting but i felt like this is the only post i can relate to LMAOO

Depends on the manager. You need to tell them around 20 days in advance for time off otherwise it makes it difficult . Your only other option would be to give your shift away or get someone to cover it for you. And if you can’t find coverage, it sadly won’t be easy missing your shift. But… if you have a pretty cool manager, she /he might help you find coverage (they’re required only when you’re sick). I’m not sure about missing a month, so you’ll have to bring it up to your manager as soon as possible when you can.
