Stopped into a different Sbux this morning and the lemon loaf and banana nut loaf in the pastry case both had mold growing on them. Partner on the register had a hard time ringing up my discount so called someone over to help, when it was straightened out I discreetly leaned in to tell her and she said "yea, I know" and turned back to the bar. What???? How is that ok?? I'd heard this store was the pits but that's disgusting.

i walked into another store to grab product for my own store and their egg bites were moldy. i also worked at this store a couple times and they didn’t wash their caramel bottles before adding more caramel 🤢🤢

Damn it must stink in that case

Wait, is cleaning out the case at night and restocking it every morning not a thing at all stores…? 🥴

We do ours every other day. We all feel bad tossing even more food. We do pull and replace egg bites if they get funky looking and don’t serve anything from the case.

Oh hell no. I don’t mean to be inconsiderate, but I really don’t understand partners like this. I totally get that the job isn’t important to everyone or they just simply don’t care, but I really can’t imagine myself ever working at a store where food was molding in the case and being okay with that.
Wherever I work, I at least want things to be presented nicely and cleanly. I’m not perfect and stores aren’t perfect, but there shouldn’t be anything molding and there surely shouldn’t be anything molding in view to customers.
Also, most partners eat and drink products from their own store, so I’m a bit concerned that any partner would be okay with doing that when their own store has molding food. I get some people couldn’t care less about the job, but PLEASE just be aware of basic cleanliness for the store’s sake

With the store I’ve been working at, I’ve been taught it was standard procedure to always take out food in the display case everyday around late in the afternoon, toss it, wipe down the trays and the inside / outside glass. The fact that OP said the store they visited had mold growing on it baffles me so much.
If I was ever placed in front / warming and I saw that I’d personally feel the need to take care of that asap. How could that barista just say “I know” and feel okay going about their day?? 😭
