Would you use store bought heavy whip before delivered heavy whip? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Affectionate_Fart
My store recently had to do a milk run, probably last week or week and a half. Is it wrong to ask that partners start using the whip that was bought prior than new delivery milk? I don’t want the carton of heavy whip staying in the Fridge until next month (that seems gross).

Use what expires first, first! FIFO!

I’d do it completely based on expiration dates

I'd just use it by expiry date. Cream is normally UHT pasteurized so 1 month while sealed is completely normal, and safe.

Why would they not use it first? Everything is supposed to be FIFO’ed. Milk run irrelevant.

Well we’re doing fifo, but we’re also not counting it in our milk count—-which as a result, we’re not using the store bought stuff. But I’d rather use up the 986ml cartons so that it’s better organized in the fridge and we have actually accurate milk counts…plus our delivery guys just TOSS everything everywhere without reason, which is getting old.

I worked in two stores so I know it’s all different. I guess im imagining in my mind it’s more like DT store I was in where you’re smashing through all milks everyday. So it wouldn’t last more than a day or two TOPS and only maybe 2 days because it’s HC. But at the cafe store I can definitely see it happening. Anyway yeah id try to mention using it first.
