It’s like when people order their grande drinks in a grande cup like “Oh thanks, I was going to make your grande latte in a trenta cup if you didn’t specify!”
rlogranite27 points1y ago
I usually make my grande drinks in a tall cup. 😆
Seraphim_Faye27 points1y ago
Don't joke about that. We actually had an order of a venti drink with extra milk, cold foam etc in a tall.
StarbucksStarbitch13 points1y ago
Some customers think tall is the biggest 🤦
Qveenkovah8 points1y ago
A customer really almost came at me because his grande was in a tall cup that he mobile ordered that way “I paid for a grande just answer my question is this a grande cup? 😡” “that’s a tall…*inspects sticker* *says in a tall cup* Sir…” Back tracked really fast and apologized for getting upset
LitbykristenPhoto1 points1y ago
What the….flip…. is wrong w ppl?
sarahtilton_1 points1y ago
We get a lot of those. My manager said it's because they order their "favorite" on the app but change the size without changing the specifications
Old_Specific_12331 points1y ago
SAME I was like, was this an accident?? so i made it venti and just made sure to ask them
charlenebean3 points1y ago
This would always drive me insane
Jefferson_steelflex-2 points1y ago
One time they made my tall salted cream cold brew in a trenta e.e
narviat4 points1y ago
sometimes if the sticker printer isnt printing too clearly the Tl for tall looks like the Tr for trenta lmao
Decent-Marionberry63124 points1y ago
Mobile ordering gives them too much power, and they don’t know what to do with it
NeonPaladin2752 points1y ago
I believe this happens when they try to take something out of a drink and then add it back in. Just like on the register if you hit no whip, and then whip on a drink that has whip by standard, it'll say "add whip."
heyyyitsbee16 points1y ago
i think you’re right but why would they be taking out every ingredient of the drink 😭 people confuse me so much!!!!!
puttybutty10 points1y ago
I think it happens even if you just click on the drop down but don't select anything. They probably saw the down arrow and was like "why tho" and click it and was like "ok nvm" and scrolled on.
NeonPaladin278 points1y ago
Probably just pressing random buttons lol
kaynist48 points1y ago
😭😭😭 like bro if you want extra drink just say light ice omg
AmIAwakeOr9 points1y ago
Speaking of which, did something come through corporate about making drinks standard and not including more product if customers ask for lite or no ice?
This was relayed to me by a shift but not confirmed yet by anyone else. Maybe the shift is just lashing out?
North-Nectarine91388 points1y ago
A few years back “they” wanted us to ask what people would want more of: lemonade? base? milk? It was so stupid, and then covid happened and I’ve heard nothing about it since….
AmIAwakeOr9 points1y ago
Okay, good to know. Thank you.
ps: why am I being downvoted for just asking about something?
kaynist6 points1y ago
welcome to reddit lol, you will get down voted for breathing
Rumblebee10203 points1y ago
To be fair, i had a guest order a BOSE with light ice and then complained about it having too much oat milk. I genuinely have no idea what they were expecting.
sparkly_snowstorm2 points1y ago
I asked about this last week, and my shift supervisor told me to add water into drinks and then light ice. I double checked with my ASM, she confirmed this as well
AmIAwakeOr2 points1y ago
Thanks! That's helpful 😌
sparkly_snowstorm2 points1y ago
No problem! I’ll also add to say that we only add extra base/drink when it specifies “Extra ____” in the mods. My SM said it accounts for the waste in our inventory. Otherwise, replace liquids with water and light ice 😊
djdementia25 points1y ago
Honestly I think it's time that all our stickers printed like this (entire drink ingredients on every sticker). With so many customizations it'd make every barista's life easier plus cut way down on training time.
prettykittycat444 [OP]33 points1y ago
if that's the case then some of those stickers would be massive , you know how much people love to customize lol
djdementia7 points1y ago
Right but the customizations print either way, the base drink ingredients list is usually pretty short.
Zestyclose_Low116817 points1y ago
Unfortunately I think it was really increase reading time at bar. Once you know your drinks, you don't want to read extra words that you already know. You only want to read the new or different modifications. It would decrease training time but overall slow down experienced partners - and ideally we all become experienced partners eventually.
ahhpoo10 points1y ago
Yeah I agree with you. If a sticker has one line that says Gr Latte, then I can carry on knowing it’s normal. If the sticker says
Gr Latte
2% Milk
2 shots
Signature
Hot
Foam
Then I’m gonna look at the sticker more than once to be sure I’ve got everything. But that’s just me
Orangemonk022 points1y ago
I agree, partially, we had this change put in our store (uk) and initially everyone hated it, but it does become natural to read and does at time make things easier, that said however there wasn’t anything wrong with the old stickers and there are times you miss things like milk type because you become blind to those words because you see them all the time
djdementia1 points1y ago
So put a asterisk star in front of any customized parts
ThatOneTransGirl3 points1y ago
Hard disagree. Then you’d have to read every sticker to spot a customization that might not even exist. A blank sticker means a single glance and you can start the drink. No need for an extra two or three seconds thinking about the customizations.
Loose_Bumblebee1 points1y ago
wawa does it this way!!
becksaroni14 points1y ago
I know customers can be a pain and big dummies sometimes when it comes to ordering, whether they're trying to cheat a cheaper drink or what not, but our mobile ordering platform needs redone so badly. There should be no reason the option exists for them to enter a component that is standard in that drink. The amount of times a day I get "venti ____ in a venti cup" is ridiculous. If they just removed some of the modifiers on there, stores wouldn't have to try and keep up with ridiculously modified high volume mobile orders, product wouldn't be wasted on remaking drinks because customers don't know what they're ordering, and I think everyone's experience would be better. I've been saying since the day I started, if Starbucks would just hire partners that actually work in the stores to do remodel layouts and make changes and updates to the systems ect, things would run a lot smoother.🤦🏼♀️ Sorry I just needed to complain today.
dazedandconfusedhere6 points1y ago
I think it’s just an app glitch honestly
ok_sure_iguess5 points1y ago
I'm surprised there wasn't an "add ice" mod goddamn
Broad-Flounder-49714 points1y ago
Had someone do this and asked for a grande in a venti cup and I was like “do they…want a venti…”
Loose_Bumblebee3 points1y ago
usually people do this bc they want extra ice
Broad-Flounder-49711 points1y ago
In a venti cup with extra ice would have made sense. But it said in a venti cup and then add strawberry base, add strawberry inclusions, add coconut milk.
Loose_Bumblebee1 points1y ago
yeah i think it’s a glitch in the app when they try to remove og ingredients and add them back in
Intelligent-Hunt-9063 points1y ago
I’ve seen this so many times tbh I think it’s a mobile app thing
wankmasterr_692 points1y ago
Lately they've been devolving. The other day a custie really thought they did something by saying add base, 4 pumps or caramel, 4 pumps of frappe roast. Etc. I'm like??? This isn't the secret menu!!! That's just the regular menu!!!!!!
rouscat2 points1y ago
it happens when you're ordering through the website/app and you click on additions. even if you put it on the default option that it's on, it'll print "add x". it's just shit app design.
Necessary_Low9392 points1y ago
To waste printer ink and sticker paper. And to teach you how to make drinks (do u catch my sarcasm lol)
RhubarbPerfect83301 points1y ago
Bruh, I had a regular that would come through our drive though and order the mango dragonfruit refresher, extra dragonfruit. We would ask her if she meant extra base or extra inclusions, she would never specify, and no matter what we did, it was wrong
LitbykristenPhoto1 points1y ago
Hahahaha! Maybe THEY should come wk at Starbucks if they know how to make our drinks already
emileeavi1 points1y ago
Maybe they meant extra ? 😂
Ambitious-Industry-81 points1y ago
Should have made it without ice
Zealousideal_Ebb46791 points1y ago
me trying to rack in labor for my markout lol
BlondeBreveHC1 points1y ago
To get extra without the upcharge lol
changbinsomnia1 points1y ago
we got one like that today.. was literally coming on here to post it and then this was at the top of my page
p1g30n51 points1y ago
Would be a good idea for training, that's what my first thought was.
