So I quit in September so I don’t know if there was a change in the recipe but I just got a vanilla sweet cream cold brew and the guy added water? Is that a thing now?

it was probably uncut cold brew that he was diluting to make it less overpowering
CuteLittleKarty [OP]8 points1y ago
Okay that makes sense. It does taste more watery than usual but I haven’t had it in awhile so maybe my taste is off lol.

this makes sense. we had a borrowed partner working at my store for a couple of shifts and the first day he grabbed the iced coffee pitcher and the water pitcher to make a cold brew until i pointed out our cold brew tap. i didn’t understand why he would do that in the first place but that makes so much more sense lol

Some stores don’t have kegs and to save room in the fridge they store the cold brew uncut. When cold brew is ordered they just do cold brew to the bottom line and water to the top line (just like what is done when making kegs).

When I worked for a HT Starbucks this was what we did. Rather jarring when I shifted over to a corporate location.

Yep, that’s how it is at my store. Our pitchers are uncut cold brew so we always cut it with water when making individual drinks

When our cold brew system is broken, we had to cut it down with water.

if the place doesn't have tap (most license stores dont have tap) then they add water to dilute it. My license store fortunately has tap so we don't have to worry about adding water. but guys who like to joke that we have beer (which is already annoying to hear 7 times a day)

They should’ve only added water if it was when they were making the keg. The actual drinks don’t have any
Or upon reading other folk, some stores cut it when making the drink. Wack, Lol
claretamazon10 points1y ago
If it was a store location, not a corporate one, then the cold brew isn't cut with water until the drink is made.

Edit: Licensed! That was the word, lol.

This! This is true OP. What this person said is correct
jjd_yo3 points1y ago
Huh, never seen it before. TIL

Licensed locations are super tiny so they don't have kegs, only the 2L pitchers. It saves space to just not add water until making the drinks.

That’s what I thought cause I never made it with water.
