A customer went through the process of ordering her beverage and panini and I cashed her out. She then decided to buy a fancy cup and I asked her if she had the app so she could get points for the larger purchase (I should have asked her before her drink but I don’t always ask when we’re busy). She said she did and clicked on it, but it was obvious that she hadn’t actually signed up when she said it says “join now, what should I do next?” I told her to go through the process. She then asked if I could put her previous order on the app for points, I told her that the only way for me to do that was to void it and put the order through again, or to have her call customer service. She said “put it through again? so like I would get another drink?” I explained that, “no, she would only be paying for the same drink and sandwich she already had, I would just be voiding it and re-ringing it… she said “ohhhh okay!” I made sure she understood (or so I thought) and got the “okay” to do it. I completed the void, and handed her the receipt and as I am Re-ringing the order, her phone dings and she goes to her friend- “Oh no, what the heck?!! I’m gonna have to call my bank, something just got voided out of my account…I’m gonna have to check on that.”
And at first I thought she was joking, but I looked up and she was Dead serious. I said “ ma’am, that was supposed to happen, remember I just voided an order and resubmitted it.” And she looked Very dejected and confused, but said, “okay”. As I handed her the receipt for the void and explained that she should keep it to make sure it appears.

Two thoughts-
One: she will probably return and insist she was changed twice.
Two: I will Never be that helpful again. Screw the damn points! Dummies don’t deserve points.

it’s always when you go out of your way to be helpful that you get the most aggravating customers lmao

I had people go “cold drinks are half off right?!” I said “for rewards members only.” Dude looked so annoyed when only ONE drink came as half off…and it was an iced coffee…which to me, doesn’t warrant being annoyed. I said “Yeah. It took the discount off for One member aka one drink…”

I work at a licensed store, and at least when I started you had to train as a cashier in the store (just one shift) so you could get a handle on the POS system. I had this older woman come in one day with her husband to check out, and they had a deal that if you bought a certain amount of items for a certain amount of money, you'd get a $5 gift card.

It was my first time dealing with that, and luckily I had someone shadowing me so I know I did it right. Finished the transaction, handed her the gift card, then they went on their merry way, or so I thought. The woman must've gotten confused or didn't understand the deal, because she came barging up with one of the guest service managers and went off on how she didn't get her $5 off her order. Luckily, my trainer was able to solve the situation, and told her that she got the gift card instead of the $5 off. The woman realized her mistake, and then again left on her merry way.

I just love that on my first day and one of my first transactions, I had a woman come after me over $5 🙃
