advice on transferring? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Visible-Caregiver-31
i’ve been working at my store for 10 months. i was thinking about transferring before in the past but my issues got sorted out so i decided on not going through with the transfer. i feel like i’m really at my breaking point this time. i feel like i’m not being supported. i called out for a mental health day this past week and i even offered to find coverage but my shift said i didn’t need to. my manager asked the following week why i called out and i told her i called out for a mental health day and she said that’s not what was relayed to her. a shift mentioned that i called out bc i was tired. i was trying to tell her my part and why i called out and she didn’t listen. she just kept mentioning how that’s not what a shift told her and that i should’ve found my own coverage. but why does it have to be a shift to explain it to you when i’m trying to explain it to you rn????
anyways the store i’m looking at now has a cool team from the looks of it. i’ve gone in a couple times as a customer. any advice on getting through the transferring process?

In my experience (seeing many transfers happen and just signing my own papers the other day), you have to find someone who will listen to you and believe you. It’s hard when something like this happens and your shift makes things difficult, but definitely make your intentions well known to your manager. If they don’t listen, talk to your DM. Explain why you think that transferring is your last option, because they will try to problem-solve if you haven’t explained to them that this is the only option. One thing I would try and stay away from in these conversations too is to avoid blaming anyone or any situation. Yes, some terrible things may have been done or said to you, but your managers are looking for you to be able to forgive and not hold grudges.

Some of this may not be relevant to your situation, but if it is I hope I could help!
