Will I need to be re-trained if I transfer from a grocery store Starbucks to a standalone? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Zero1Sixx
As the title said, I’m planning on leaving the grocery store Starbucks I’m working at (not mentioning names for reasons) and moving to a standalone near me. I’ve heard that some people have to go through retraining and be recertified, even though the requirements are the same.

I currently am a certified Barista Trainer and I have my Daily Operations certification, as well as working on getting my Management certification next month. But I was curious if all those will be invalidated because I’m coming from a grocery store Starbucks - rather than just transferring stores.

Also should mention the DM would be the same, so my impression is that it won’t matter, but I did want to ask. Any answers or feedback on this would be greatly appreciated 😊

Yes you would start from the beginning

you’d have to do all the modules again (assuming you do modules at licensed stores, idk) but your new sm or barista trainer will know you know pretty much what to do and probably wont make you do too much bar training. there are some differences between licensed and corporate store policies and standards, but probably just cold brew and order screens, nothing too crazy. my sm lets us do modules at home and writes us in the schedule for however long it took, see if that might be an option!

I’m hoping that’s actually what happens 😅 I’ve been doing this for 2 years and am the lead barista at my location so it’s not like I’m not familiar with how everything works. I did figure that I’ll need to be trained on everything my store doesn’t have (drive thru, mobile, Blonde/Nitro, etc) but I’m mainly hoping I won’t go back to square one. Thanks for the response :)
