partners make the worst customers. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by celeste567
there’s this one partner from another store in our district that comes to our store pretty much every day like 10 min before we close and asks us for a drink with 1000 modifications and then he will stare you down as you make it like…y’all need to go to your own store with that shit please😭.

It’s funny I was just thinking this. It’s always fellow partners that order the most complicated drinks…..
celeste567 [OP] 56 points 1y ago
like where’s your sense of loyalty …
saltandseasmoke 31 points 1y ago
All I ever order at other starbucks are iced blonde americanos with extra ice or cold brew 😅 Half because I don't wanna give anybody a headache... but also half because those are pretty difficult to mess up or not make to standard lol.
celeste567 [OP] 14 points 1y ago
and you’re a real one !🙏🏾
deeciphered 1 points 1y ago
Also you could go to your own store and could make your own drink. Instead you come to mine and make me make it and then try and have a conversation to relate to me as a partner.

Don't get me wrong some partners are totally fine but some have very very frustrating orders.

You’re fun at parties
Electrical_Newt_1426 34 points 1y ago
Seriously!! I love drinks that are a little of this and a little of that, but I always make them myself. If I’m coming in on my day off or going to another store I always make it as simple as I can.
celeste567 [OP] 9 points 1y ago
exactly!!! you get it !
greenChainsaws 25 points 1y ago
i am the custie partner thatll order an iced chai with oat milk and no ice. best drink 11/10
Liberalmuffin 4 points 1y ago
no ice?!!1
greenChainsaws 2 points 1y ago
no ice = more drink and easier to make
Liberalmuffin 1 points 1y ago
to each their own!
wifeypoopoo 20 points 1y ago
Yes!!! One of the afternoon partners comes through the drive thru in the morning and gets three ristretto shots over ice in a venti cup with lots of syrup pumps, milk and vanilla sweet cream foam 🤦🏼‍♀️ no matter how busy we are
celeste567 [OP] 20 points 1y ago
not the broke person iced latte…they should know better smh!
chrichri33333 12 points 1y ago
We once had a partner from another store order a doppio espresso in a venti cup with light ice and milk filled to the top, expecting the milk to be free of charge. When we told her she was either gonna be charged for the milk or a latte, she kept saying "but I'm a partner!!" Ok, then you should know how this drink is rung up...
Passion-Syrup 11 points 1y ago
Honestly, I always order the simplest drinks when I go to other Starbucks because I understand how they feel about complicated orders. I only make my own complicated orders
clipkate 10 points 1y ago
I used to work at a licensed store where just one of the absolute bs rules was that if you ordered a drink you weren’t allowed to make it yourself and one of my coworkers would always spend the last 15 minutes of her shift harassing whichever barista was making her drink because it had to be ~just so~
DirigibleUme 10 points 1y ago
Last week another partner came in and was almost Whispering her order at me, and when it came to her partner numbers I almost said something like you know how hard it is to hear, why are you whispering at me! I don't get it.
Necessary_Low939 7 points 1y ago
I hope u charged him.
celeste567 [OP] 11 points 1y ago
you know i did 🥱
Necessary_Low939 1 points 1y ago
Great. If I were u I’d call his home store and complain about him.
sarahtilton_ 6 points 1y ago
Yeah I'll only order complicated drinks when I'm the one making it. otherwise, it's an iced chai with oat milk✌️
TemplarSensei7 5 points 1y ago
As I grow older and drink less specialty drinks, I just want a good coffee, or a macchiato for the evening.

After four years of absurd drinks and one day of the unicorn Frappuccino, I know better than to torture fellow baristas, retired or not.
WAtransplant2021 5 points 1y ago
I'm in a remote market, two stores in town. The manager from the other store came thru our DT with a 6 drink Frappuccino order on July 4.

I'm all, you couldn't go to your own store?

My first week after training I had an outside partner order a zebra. They were joking around with a shift so I thought they were pulling my leg, and I laughed and said "sure!" When they didn't say anything else I realized they actually meant that, and a wave of embarrassment washed over me, paired with them going "Do you even know what that is? Go ask someone, don't just stare at me." in a super unnecessarily rude tone. Just be nice, it's not hard 💁
PiscesQueen24 3 points 1y ago
I’ve never heard of such thing lol what is it?
PartlyCloudyKid 7 points 1y ago
If my memory serves me, I think it was just half mocha/white mocha. Nothing special, they literally could have said "and could I have two pumps mocha, two pumps white mocha". I've only had one other customer ask for a zerba.
lovey12120 7 points 1y ago
i’ve literally never heard that referred to as a zebra. usually when someone orders that they say “tuxedo.” no reason for that partner to treat you like that tho sorry my guy
mrcupcake18 5 points 1y ago
Omg yes or they instruct you as you make it and be like “I’m a partner so…” like girl that makes it even worse because you should know better ಠ_ಠ
Intelligent-Hunt-906 5 points 1y ago
Agreed! They messed up a whole order and blamed it on me, they sounded as if they were newer partners!
Big_Pension_1 4 points 1y ago
I have a complicated ass order but I only get it if I’m making it myself at my location - every other store i go to where i have to order gets a basic ass drink order like a vanilla latte or vsccb 😂
SubstantialStep2176 3 points 1y ago
We had someone come in recently that asked if we could take the inside of a turkey pesto and put it on an everything bagel. We said no but that they could buy both and do that themselves. We were already weirded out by the request, but even more so when they said they had partner numbers to use. Cmon you know we can’t do that….
lewabwee 2 points 1y ago
I don’t know if it’s an official rule that you don’t have to be as nice to partners as you do actual customers...

But you don’t have to be as nice to partners. Corporate won’t care if they complain.
_luziferr_ 2 points 1y ago
i just order a brown sugar shaken expresso at other stores bc my drink is too complicated and i feel bad for making others make my drink lol
SimplyUnhinged 1 points 1y ago
Some of the most annoying customers I've had (not most or many, just a few) were partners. They order the most complicated drinks then chatter while you make the drink about how they used to be a partner. I remember we had one customer months ago who was a partner then got angry when it took us a long time to make her drink (she ordered during rush). Like... I think some people just savor not working at starbucks anymore so they can enjoy being on the other side, tapping their foot waiting to be served.
elementvsp 1 points 1y ago
I do sort of agree here, for me, I have a complicated drink that I make myself for breaks and stuff. But when I’m ordering at a different Starbucks, I take off almost all the changes.
i-Sybil 1 points 1y ago
that’s why whenever i go to another store i just get a brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso cause the plain drink build is perfect
rudebii 1 points 1y ago
IMO baristas with incredibly fussy orders are usually poor baristas as well. Like please, you aren’t tasting some magical transformation with those dozen modifications.
Pylon-Cam 1 points 1y ago
In my experience, it’s usually the opposite.

Baristas with complex orders tend to know our products and our menu quite well. Because of that, they know what might work well together and they’re able to come up with a good combination.

Also, in my experience, many partners with complex orders tend to be more experienced, as they get tired of drinking the normal menu drinks and want something different.
canidieyet_ 1 points 1y ago
so true. ex partners are somehow even worse!! right now my SM is trying to ban someone i used to work with. she quit sometime last year, but uses her sister’s numbers (current partner) and gets BITCHY when she gets caught. i hated her as a coworker and even more as a customer
MLGTheForkOnTheLeft 1 points 1y ago
Makes it almost seem like they go there to try and ruin your guys’ drive time because their store is probably dog shit.
lynnesagna 1 points 1y ago
i try to keep my drinks as simple as possible when ordering bc im not gonna make y’all make me my double cup, grande, 2 english bfast, 1 earl grey, water halfway up, steep for 4 mins, remove bags, splash of cold oat milk, then topped with extra foam steamed oatmilk at 115 degrees and stirred. i save that one to make for myself when i open. ☺️
Ghirahim016 1 points 1y ago
I was just talking to another partner about this, I have my markout drinks with all the modifications ( usually comes out to $7-8 depending on what I get) and then I have my drinks where it’s just a simple iced coffee with classic and cream to use my discount on. Anytime I’m at a store that’s not my own, I go for the simple drinks
oftbkk 1 points 1y ago
it’s always people from different stores. like i fully don’t mind making my stores partners their wonky drinks but when it’s someone i don’t know and you modified the fuck out of your drink that it’s now a $15 drink. hard pass

Yeah at my store they know my usual and it's pretty easy if it's busy that's what I get. Any other store the most complicated I get is light ice, cold foam and drizzle. And that's only if it isn't slammed lol
