medical leave (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Regular-Reveal8133
i just started a therapy program (PHP) and i’m not able to work so i have to take a medical leave but i have terrible anxiety and have no idea what to expect from the process so i’m just hoping for a quick explanation of the process so it’s easier to call and actually take the leave

File a claim online, follow up through emails, provide documentation. You don't necessarily need to make any calls. Hub- benefits- Sedgwick

Let your store manager know you’re taking a leave of absence (if they don’t know already), then you can file with Sedgwick online. It’s super easy to file a claim, you’ll be assigned someone to help walk you through what documents you need to submit, and keep up with you if anything else is needed. I took an LOA last year for mental health and the process was easy and stress free. Best of luck to you ❤️

May I ask what PHP is?

the full name is partial hospitalization, it’s 6 hours of group therapy five days a week with psychiatrist and individual therapist appointments. we have all sorts of groups like life skills, DBT / CBT, narrative therapy, mind and body, and so many other things it’s so beneficial. there’s also a step down which is IOP (intensive out patient) and it’s basically the same thing but no psychiatrist and it’s 3 hours a day for either 5 days or 3 days a week. outside of the therapy it’s honestly really nice to just be forced to be with people who understand what i’m going through because i have a huge tendency to isolate from people

I want that. It sounds like a dream come true. I hope you get the results you're looking for. Mental illness sucks. Sorry you're struggling.
