One thing that helps a lot is having the espresso pull down the side of the cup bc when it’s pulling straight down it creates a lot of bubbles and the crema is trash. (This is mainly bc we don’t have a lot of control over the coffee making process, normal espresso machines wouldn’t have this problem as bad as we do). Besides that just make sure your milk is a pretty solid texture. There’s a lot of good tutorials on YouTube that you can use to hone in on your skill w that. I also mainly only practice when I get a drink that I know I’ll have a decent shot of getting good latte art so if my milk texture isn’t great or there isn’t a lot of espresso in the drink (standard shorts, talle, and ventis don’t have a good coffee to milk ratio for latte art) I won’t even bother.
