Raises for new employees? Grande sized rant(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
So I got hired at my Starbucks location on May 10th. When I was hired my store manager said that the current pay was 12, but that I was going to get a raise to 15 at the end of summer. This comment was want made me choose the job over another that I applied for, and got offered the position, which paid 13.50/hr plus tip. Today, I was in the back on my break and I read a paper saying the raise applies to partners who where hired before May 2, 2022. Is this really true? It was really frustrating to read as 1. my manager explicitly told me I was gonna get the raise when I was doing my coffee tasting and 2. I only missed the date by 8 days. I’ve worked really hard in the time I have been here and feel like i deserve the raise, especially with the fact I was never trained on anything. (I got trained at a different store in my district for two days as CS and was then moved to my actual store. I literally didn’t even know how to work the register when I started there and have had to figure out everything essential on my own.)

If the starting pay rate for your area is raised to $15, then you will also be raised to $15 regardless of the date hired 👍

I’m in the same position, got hired in June and wondering if / when I’ll get a raise 🙁

August 1st, starbucks raises the starting pay to $15. That's when you'll get your raise, then again in January.

oh really ?? That’s awesome thank you😁! What’s it being raised in January?
ConfusionDisastrous82 points1y ago
It's a yearly thing. We typically don't know until it gets closer. Usually around 2.5-3% sometimes more.

Everyone who is under $15 will be at $15 on august 1st no matter when you were hired. The $15 or 3% has the cut off. So areas that are already at $15 will stay at $15 if you were a recent hire.

Wait i thought i would be getting the 3%? Or something above 15. Because right now im at $13 but i got hired a little over 2 years ago...2 years and 4 months ago which was in like march of 2020...do i get 15 or the 3%? 😬
OneRoseDark1 points1y ago
well a 3% raise would be $13.39 so you'll be bumped all the way to the new minimum of $15
Responsible_Snow71091 points1y ago
I thought someone on here told me a few weeks ago that i would be making $15.50 or $15.65 or somewhere around there. I forget the number exactly. But they said i should be getting 3% of 15 since i have been with the company over 2 years
Edit: spelling

It’s the over two years thing. You go to $15 and then get a something extra for tenure. I forget the exact amount of extra.
If you were under 2 years it would be 3% or $15 - whichever was greater.

I missed the last raise by 2 weeks. I’ve busted my arse I run circles around others. I show up. Did they go to bat for me? Nope They want me to coach a shift you hired instead of me (I didn’t apply for it because I didn’t feel I was ready). Bite me
