As a closer, at least in my store, the baritistas usually go up to the SSV and be like "hey is there anything else you wanted me to do before I clock out", because sometimes during closing we don't get out exactly on time. There are tasks that need to be done and we can run over our scheduled times. Even if you believe you have finished all the tasks, it's good practice to check with the SSV to make sure that nothing was missed. The SSV didn't have to be so rude about it though, which you could talk to them about.

As a shift, I completely agree with this person! There is a lot of pressure to set up the opener well but they should never talk to you like that! I would have a conversation with them before telling on them to your SM, out of respect and trying to build trust with them. As for clocking out on time , I understand but think of it like being off at 9am during peak, you probably wouldn’t just walk off the floor and clock out; you wait for someone to tell you OP you’re good to go ! Or that someone is taking over for you, essentially the same thing :) hope this was helpful!

Your SSV was correct, you technically can’t just leave or clock out without double checking with them first. Since you’re a new partner, it’s fine that you didn’t necessarily know. The ssv must have been mad because once you clock out, you legally cannot help anymore which makes closing difficult. Still, because you’re new, they should have been more understanding.Funny story! My first job (retail) I didn’t know I had to ask my manager if I could leave or if she needed me to stay for coverage. I just left. She was pissed off lol. Safe to say this is for most jobs.

you don’t have to clock out until the shift tells you. you should be getting paid until the last second. you also wanna double check with them and make sure everything is done before clocking out bc they may have more that you didn’t do.

Now that u know the answer, u should delete the post. Yes that supervisor could’ve said it in a nicer way but I understand how he felt especially u never clock out if ure not done with everything. Sometimes u need to stay later. And since ure new, u shouldn’t assume that everything is done. Most of the time it’s not.
